Jason's Pov.
"Bye darling, don't forget to come home during the holidays. I'll miss you" she said with a pout.
"C'mon, it's not as if I'm going to another country or state. Besides college is barely an hour drive from here." I chuckled.
"Yeah, I know. But you're to stay on campus, imagine me staying in this house for a whole day without seeing your face" she said feigning sadness.
I snickered, "you're such a drama queen. I stay in this house alone mom. You're barely around, you work all day and come home late." I reminded her.
"Yeah, I know. You don't have to remind me". She said rolling her eyes. "Your father called me yesterday". Her eyes scanned my face for a reaction.
"What did he say," I asked pouring the orange juice into the mug.
"The usual," she whispered focusing her attention on the refrigerator.
I nodded.
"And what was your response?" I asked sipping the juice in the mug.
"I told him I would think about it," she said nervously fiddling her fingers.
"You know, it's funny how you relate with that man, after all, he did to you" I spoke up looking at her.
"Maybe it's because I still lo..ve.. him," she said nervously. "Besides, God says we should forgive and forget," she said with a shrug.
"Let's just drop this topic, ok" I stated plainly. "I've gotta get going," I said.
" I'll drive" she replied to me. Even though I felt the urge to decline her offer, I allowed her to drive.
The drive to the University was quiet, we barely spoke to each other. I peeked from the window as the University came into view, 'Stanford University was boldly inscribed on the walls of the building. We drove through the enormous gates which opened on its own accord. I never knew Nigeria had such beautiful and conducive environs for learning.
"Wow," I muttered.
"You're surprised, right?" She questioned.
"Yeah" I admitted forgetting about the whole drama that happened.

.We settled with the registrar, and I was handed over the keys to my compartment. I bade mom goodbye after she helped me arranged my stuff. I headed for the lecture hall, I sighted Stephanie from afar talking to a girl who I assume was her friend.
"Look who I found," I said with a high-pitched voice.
"Hi" she waved and smiled at me.
"Hey, I was heading to the lecture hall when I saw you from a distance and decided to say 'hi''. I explained. Her friend scowled at me which was petrifying.
"That's so nice of you, Clara meets Jason my mo...oo...Romm's friend son", I furrowed my brows with the way she pronounced 'mom', "Jason meet Clara, my sister". I thought she was the only child. "From another mother". She quickly added and I nodded in understanding.
Guess they're close.
"It's nice to meet with you," I stretched out my hands to Clara expecting a handshake instead she glared at me letting out a loud hiss leaving me and Stephanie. I was a bit embarrassed but shook it off.
"Forgive her for my sake, she's not always like that. She's just not in her best today" she explained and I nodded in understanding. That explains the glares and scowls I've been receiving from her.
