We were weeks away from the wedding. And I was nose deep, entangled and drowning in preparations for what was to be the most important day of my life.
Adriana, breathe.

Twisting and turning to get the perfect angle, I glanced at my two friends through the ginormous mirror, sucking in a deep breath before I exited the dressing room.
Kenny stopped midway through raising the champagne flute, his eyes widening.

"What do you think?"

"Holy mother of gayness-"

A blubbery laugh came out of me as I watched his reaction to the extremely over the top princess wedding gown.

Emma held her chest as she gaped, her eyes sparkling with admiration before letting out a tiny gasp.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me! Oh my God!" Kenny placed the glass on top of the small wooden table, leaning forward.

"So you like?" I chimed, spreading my arms to allow him better view of the beautiful lace veil that fell across my shoulders in a large flow.

His hands cupped his mouth that was ajar as he slowly rose to his feet.
"Biiitch-"

Wait till he found out that the crystals around the plunged neckline were real diamonds.
He walked around me in a circle, still holding a stunned expression while his eyes meandered down my dress to every detail.

"Who do I have to fuck-"

"What about the train? You think it's too much?"

He kept shaking his head and I had to grab hold of his arm to get his attention to focus on my face again.
My euphoria drained by the time we had finished with the fitting, a feeling of melancholy jabbing at my heart as I looked around.

One of our friends was missing.

"Where's Amanda?"

I hadn't seen or heard from her for a while now and deep down I had begun to worry. Her absence was confounding. She hadn't shown up today even though I'd left her more than one text message as a reminder for my first fitting.

I really wanted her to be here for this special occasion.

"I have no clue what that girl's up to. She's taken multiple days off of work and God knows where she's sleeping, cause it ain't at home," Kenny retorted, "but then again, this is Amanda we're talking about. You know she be whoring around with some new man somewhere."

"I just hope she's ok, that's all," I countered, pushing away the trace of concern that was stewing in the back of my head.

"You look amazing and fuck, those boobs! You're gonna knock 'm dead, baby!"

"Thank you, Kenny. I was hoping you guys would like it," I beamed.
"Are you fucking shitting me, I love it!" He grabbed the wedding catalogue from the cream sofa, fanning his face with it.

"Bitch, you're making me cry and this makeup is expensive."

Emma and I chuckled, caging him into a group hug just as the seamstress approached us with a broad smile.

After a few minor adjustments around my shoulders and hips, she helped me out of the dress and I slipped into my jumpsuit, the soft material cool against my skin.
Fishing my phone out, I searched through the emergency contacts and tapped the screen, raising it to my ear.

It rang twice before he picked up and I closed the door to the fitting room shut.

"Nothing's wrong. We need to talk," I spoke to the recipient who was silent as I made arrangements for our subtle meet.
