There he sat, looking at her work at her desk. She was beautiful in a way he had never seen before. Two beautiful brown eyes with a hint of amber sparkled when the light caught them at the right angle. Usually, it was when she was writing thoughtfully and tilted her head just a little to decide the right thing to say in an email.
He would watch her from a short distance and he was pretty sure she didn't notice. After all, he had been in the office for a couple of days and she didn't even look in his direction. Maybe it was a good thing because he was enchanted by her and could not stop staring. She was unlike any female he had ever encountered.
He would often daydream of being with her out in the world instead of stuck in this office. He wasn't even sure how he ended up here. It seemed as though one day he walked by the building, went in out of curiosity, and never left. This was his life now, but at least she was here with him.
One day while she was eating lunch at her desk, a simple bento box of veggie roll-ups and slices of fresh fruit, he decided to pay her a visit and say hello. He thought it was about time. He moved swiftly from his shadowy corner over to her desk in front of the bright window and gently touched her hand.
"Hello," he said quietly.
She looked down, screamed, and swatted at him with a company envelope. He fell on the floor and crawled away. She didn't hurt his body, just his pride. He supposed a relationship between a human and a spider would never work, but at least he can say he tried.
