Chapter 2 - Flight
Amelia POV
Thursday, December 16, 2021
I woke up a couple hours later, confused, feeling a weight resting on me. I opened my eyes and looked around. My head was resting on my neighbors shoulder. His head was on top of mine, with his golden locks fallen in front of my face.
How did we end up like this?
I began to shift my head and I felt his eyes flutter open.
"Shit, I'm sorry," he apologized as he pulled his head up.
"No worries, I'm sorry... I don't know how I ended up on your shoulder," I responded.
He chuckled and with a wink he said, "Well now that we already slept together, we might as well get to know each other."
My face turned bright red as I laughed.
"Well for starters, my names Amelia but all of my friends call me A."
"I'll stick with your first letter trend...you can call me 'O'... However I don't want to call you A, if that's what everyone else does. I want to be special," He responded with a smirk on his face.
"So you're allowed to be special but I have to call you O?" I laughed and he nodded his head.
"Do I get to know what O stands for?"
"Nope," he explained, popping the 'p' at the end.
"Hm... Amelia. What should I call you?" he smirked and I laughed. His face immediately brightened.
"Your laugh is adorable. It's contagious... Lia"
I blushed at his comment as my heart fluttered at the new nickname.
"Lia... I like it. It's pretty."
"Just like you," he mumbled, thinking I didn't hear it.
I glanced away to hid my blush but soon looked back to him.
With our eyes locked I said, "So what brings you to Paris?"
Damn his eyes are really pretty.
"So are yours."
I looked up at him confused.
"You said my eyes were really pretty," he explained.
"Oh my gosh. I-I said that out loud... I'm so sorry. I-uh-I can't believe I did that."
He laughed at my nervousness and pulled my hands away from my face. "No it was cute."
I smiled.
He pulled his hands away from mine and I slightly frowned at the loss of contact.
No, Amelia. You just met him.
"So to answer your question... I'm meeting some friends out here and then spending the week exploring before I go home for Christmas," he explained, "What about you, what brings you to the city of love?" he laughed, wiggling his eyebrows.
I chuckled and answered, "I'm going to this convention thing this weekend and then I am also spending the week exploring before I go home for Christmas."
"Alone?" he questioned.
"Yeah... My best friend was going to come but she couldn't get off that many days from work since we are going home for Christmas."
"So LA is not home?" he questioned.
"No. we both go to school out there but are originally from New Jersey. We are going to see our family."
"Family as in only 1? Not plural?"
"Yup! I say best friend because she is, but we are actually cousins."
"Oh that's really cool! And her name is..."
"Grace," I said with a smile thinking about my best friend.
"It's only been a few hours and I already miss her. I really wish she could have come."
"Well hey. I know I can't necessarily replace someone that you've known since like... forever, but I think you found a new best friend," He responded with a wink.
A flight attendant started coming around with drinks and snacks. I got pretzels and a soda and placed them on my tray, as I wasn't really hungry yet. As O got his, I pulled out my phone and tried to connect to the complimentary wifi...something I forgot to do when I boarded because it was too early to function.
After connecting I texted Grace an update but I felt the boy next to me peeking over my shoulder.
"Hmm. Who are you texting?" He questioned.
"Grace."
"What about?"
"Just about this guy I am being forced to sit next to on the plane. He can be so nosy sometimes"
He gasped, "And to think. We were becoming best friends!!" He exclaimed, crossing his arms and turning his head away from me.
"Yeah, he's very dramatic too!!!"
O turned back to me and we both started hysterically laughing. I was having a good time with this kid.
"I'm bored. Do you want to watch a movie?" He questioned.
"I would love to."
He pulled out his iPad and was scrolling through the movies. At the same exact time that he stopped scrolling and pointed to a movie on the screen I said "Wait!"
"Home Alone?" He questioned. I nodded.
"That was my choice too" He answered with a smile.
He handed me one of his airpods and started the movie.
I cautiously rested my head back on his shoulder. I felt him tense up a little bit but he soon relaxed underneath me and placed his head on top of mine.
This is nice.
Woah. Amelia. What are you doing. This is a complete stranger!! You don't know him at all!
Even though I only met him a few hours ago, he seemed so familiar to me and I felt like we have known each other for forever.
A/n
Hi!!! Hopefully you all are enjoying! Sorry for the delay! College softball started and it was crazy hectic the first week so I didn't have much time to write.
Sorry for the short chapter! I was going to make it shorter but I want the next chapter to revolve around her figuring out its Owen rather than it being in this one!
Are you guys liking it so far? :)
