"Shit happens. Everyday. To everyone. The difference is in how people deal with it."
"Mr. Imano has called once again boss. He's getting angry that you keep declining his calls, I thought you may like to know that he's a dangerous man, with many connections. It might be best if you don't anger him." My assistant Roseline 'warns' me.
"Dangerous, he may be. But I do what I want. When I want to speak with him I will, until then he will wait. Decline it again." I tell her. It's been two weeks since the mafias ball and Ziel Imano has been trying to get in touch with me every day since.
I've been telling my assistants to decline but he'll just call again. I must give it to him, he's persistent. Annoying, but persistent.
I don't wish to speak to him. He may know my 'identity' but that does not make us friends. He shouldn't be trying to contact me nor should he continue after I blatantly state that I wish not to speak with him.
I hear a hesitant knock on my door and give them a calm come in. It is once again my assistant Roseline. "Put him through." I state annoyed and she quickly gives me a nod before scurrying away.
I pick up my office phone. Waiting till the line is connected. I hear ruffles in slight words before a deep 'hello.' Comes from the phone.
If I'm being honest, I would've yelled at him if his voice didn't sound so.. captivating. "May you like to explain why the fuck you've been calling my workplace every day for two weeks?" I said. My accent coming out as a curse.
"You haven't been answering." He says, stating the obvious. What does he want? "What do you want, Imano?"
"I want you to work for me." I laughed. Who does he think he is. Did he think I would genuinely want to work for him? "And why would I do that?" I said, entertaining him.
"I can pay you good money, more than you've ever been paid." What am I? A whore? What makes him think me, the most powerful mystery in the underworld would need or want to work for him?
He thinks he can buy me like some object. I haven't come this far by caring about worthless shit like money. "I don't work for people, people work for me. And I make my own money." I stated.
I'm the boss. That's how it works. No ones my boss. I don't take orders, I give them. I don't fear, I'm feared. I don't get bought, I buy. I don't get killed, I kill. I'm the dominant and I will stay the dominant until I feel as if I don't want to be. Simple.
Don't be mistaken, I don't care much for money, but I do care for my respect. And if you think you can disrespect me by stealing what is mine, you're fucked.
"Then work with me." With? Tempting, but why. Why would the Italian Mafia need me to work with them? "Why?" I question.
"You'll find out when you agree." He says as if he's positive I would agree. "If I agree." I correct. Cocky bastard.
