_chapter one, a blast from the past_

The wind howled against the windows, clawing at them as Michael read through letters he was sent, tapping his foot on the cold concrete floor while he read. A bored expression painted his face as he groaned. This was the third time this week he had to go take care of something the holy knights should've done easily, but nooo, they just had to call on Michael to save those incompetent fools.

He hurried to put his outfit on, the shirt loosely hanging off his waist but clinging to his chest due to his muscle mass. "Stupid shirts." He grumbled as he finished getting his armor on, because what's a holy knight without their armor?

Well, Michael didn't count himself a holy knight, seeing as he was more of their janitor than anything. He was constantly having to fix issues they couldn't fix due to how smooth their brains were. It was practically amazing how many mistakes the holy knights make nowadays.

Running a hand through his fluffy hair, Michael decided to go now, seeing as the threat was urgent. Well, to them at least. He grabbed his scythe, being somewhat reminded of his time in the holy war before hurrying once more. He put his scythe on his back as he left his office, running into a couple other knights on his way before leaving the castle, and heading to the area the culprit was last seen.

The map he had been given was jumbled up from how fast the person had written it, along with the blood splattered on the side, which was such a lovely addition to the map. Michael shoved it into his bag, using his wings to get there faster, since walking or using a horse would be slower, and unnecessary.

He first headed towards the kingdom that had been attacked, the last place the person had been spotted. Michael had arrived an hour after setting off, his wings sore, so he put them away as he looked around the place. The strong smell of iron hit the male straight in the face. He coughed slightly as he must've landed in the destroyed part of the once powerful kingdom.

Michael looked around, mangled bodies littering the ground, surrounded by endless pools of blood seeping into the path, leaving just enough room to walk if he traveled right. Everything had been destroyed or burnt to a crisp wherever he walked. The scene didn't bother him at all, it was just the disgusting but familiar smell of blood that disgusted him. It had always been an awful smell to the demon male, even if he had spilt thousands of gallons upon gallons of it in the holy war.

He quickly shook his head, getting back on focusing on his mission to find the rogue prince, who destroyed his own kingdom. Well, Michael knew it wasn't the young prince's fault, it was more of the demon's curse the boy had been put under. The prince wasn't the only child affected, but he was the one of the few to survive it.

Michael looked around the area, his scythe resting on his shoulder. "How can a 6 foot tall, muscular man with a large axe hide this well?" Michael grumbled, blocking the sun from his eyes as he looked for the corrupted boy. A lot of the children that were in the demon's curse scandal were dead at this point, as their families couldn't afford the item needed to keep them in check.

Speaking of items needed to keep them in check, the prince's had been stolen, causing the 16 year old prince — well, king — to go rogue, destroying half of his kingdom and two villages, though there were reports of him wandering around the destroyed part of his kingdom. Probably self aware guilt kicking in even with the influence.

Michael got the necklace that had been stolen from the prince, since they had thankfully found it before the king could destroy any more villages or come for the rest of his kingdom. Though the holy knights had trouble trying to find the necklace, it had actually been the famous witch himself who found the necklace. Though Michael's dear old friend probably cheated in finding it since he was the one to make it.
