"You're going to leave and not tell him?" Gun asked.
I dropped a folded pair of jeans into my suitcase and exhaled. "There is nothing else I can do. I sit across from him, and I want to see something—anything that would tell me that he's even a little bit attracted. But all I saw was fear."
"He's afraid of you?" Gun asked.
I nodded. "But sometimes, it's best to just let things go."
"But, Sin—"
"Let it go."
Gun sighed and I entered my walk-in closet to dig through the different pairs of sneakers I had compiled over the years. Settling for a black pair and a white pair, I walked out to find that Gun had left me to thoughts.
It shouldn't have happened—me falling for Sun. I should have allowed myself to do that. Even then, I knew Sun was all about his job. Being as young as he was, I knew he wouldn't have time to be with me, to be mine.
"I'm an idiot." I muttered and dropped my packed suitcase on the floor.
As I wandered through my day—practice, meeting with Bo and the wardrobe department then back home—I knew it wasn't Sun's fault.
None of this was his fault.
I poured myself a drink and flopped into my sofa and began playing my newest Thai single. It hadn't been released yet and I kept playing it over and over, trying to find something I didn't like about it.
This would be my first Thai single in over three years.
Doing this career thing on my own had been hard. Having Bo on my team was making things so much easier. But I had to fight lately to keep my mind on task. I couldn't let Bo down since he was taking a huge risk on me.
Turning the music off, I rested my head back onto the arm of the chair.
I wasn't sure how long I was in that position before my phone began buzzing. Frustrated, I kept my eyes closed, ignoring it.
The notification stopped, only to start again.
I pulled it from my pocket and checked to find Sun's name flashing on the screen. Though I didn't want to, I found myself answering the video call.
"P'Sin."
"Mm?"
"Um—are you busy?" Sun asked.
I sat up and rested my elbows on my thighs. "Not at the moment. What's up?"
"Can we meet?"
I tilted my head. "Sun, just tell me what you need. I'm exhausted and I—"
"Oh—okay. We can talk another time."
"Sun."
"I just wanted to be around you." Sun admitted. "I—mean—I wanted to invite you out for a drink, but if you're tired."
"I'm actually back in the city." I told him.
"Oh—next time then."
Before I could say anything, Sun hung up and I was left confused as to what had just happened. What did he mean by wanting to be around me? Was he just in need of a friend?
Though I tried calling him back, Sun didn't answer.
Eventually, I wandered up the stairs to my bedroom, stripped and crawled under the covers. It was still a bit early, but I couldn't handle anything else for the day.
I stayed there, on my back staring up at the ceiling until darkness swallowed the room. Though I got no sleep the entire night, I rose early, showered and grabbed my gym back. I stopped to get a healthy breakfast then continued to the studio for dance practice.
