I ran to my friend's house. I had my book bag with me.
"Hey Emma what are you doing here?"
I was trying to catch my breath.
"Can I stay here? Just for tonight?" I asked while managing to catch my breath.
"Sure."I walked into his house. It was peaceful. I was looking around and then I spotted the family pictures. 2 smiling parents. 2 happy kids. 1 fluffy dog.
"Yup that's us."
"Your dog is cute."
"We aren't really that happy all the time." He said to me.
"What? Really?" I was startled.
"Yeah you want to go talk about this outside?"
"Yeah sure." Then I started following him.We sat on a patio swing chair. Looking into the dark trees.
"My parents don't even get along. They just do this so they can get money. I think it's something about their job. If it wasn't for that job, they would've already gone their separate ways."The was a long pause.
He continued, "It must be easy for you because your mom is a single mom and you're the only child and she loves you."
There was another pause.
"You don't get it, do you?" I asked.
