It was a long day, Meryl was exhausted, she just got into the car, away from the press and flashlight, finally, it drove her crazy, she decided to skip red carpet at the golden globes this year, she had a great conversation with Nicole the moment she came in the hall. She met a lot people she haven't seen in years, she was happy to see Pierce, they haven't seen each other in a long time, the last time was at the premiere of Mamma mia here we go again in London. They had a great talk, but she knew that Don would be so jealous, he liked Pierce, but still.

When she arrived at home she was completely tired, and just wanted to sleep, but ofc her husband wasn't really happy about what happened.

"Hello Mary." He said in a cold way.

"Donald, I absolutely don't know with what I deserve this cold hello Mary, but okay, I don't wanna deal with jealousy right now, if it's because of Pierce, we are friends, and you know that, you never acted like this before so why now?" She was clearly pissed, she knew when she would go further it could end with one of them sleeping in the guest room, even if this wasn't the thing she ever wanted in her marriage.

"It's nothing, good night." He was about to leave the room, when he heard sad and depressed sobs behind him, it was Mer, she was standing there, crying, this happened often, after fights, or when she was just upset. He sighed and walked over to her.

"No Don.. just.. just leave me alone, I can't deal with your damn jealousy anymore, I've played it cool but don, you're hurting me with being so cold and distant to me.. I don't know what or if I did something wrong in this marriage, but there are always two people involved in something like this." He looked at her and saw this broken person, he broke her, without realising it.. it was never his attention to make her sad, he wanted to make her the happiest woman on earth, she was the perfect wife and mother.

"Mary.. I..-" he looked down and than back at her "I love you darling, sleep tight, good night my sweet darling" he kissed her on the top of her head and then her front head, trying to comfort her and showing her that he is truly sorry, one thing left tho..

"I'm sorry that I'm constantly hurting you, it was never my attention, I love you with all my heart my sweet love, you're everything and I would never want us to get broken bc of those little things we can so easily fix, let's go to bed okay, I'm sorry" she looked at him, took a pillow and her blanket and walked out of the room, he knew he should give her some time..

hours pasted and Don still couldn't sleep, same was with Meryl, she felt so empty, at the moment it was around 3 am when Don heard a loud crash from the kitchen, he rushed down and saw a broken glass and a crying Meryl next to the kitchen counter, she looked so helpless and down, he felt all the pain.

"Darling.. come here, pssshh it's okay come here, I got you" he whispered in her ear.
"Don.. be honest.. am.. am I a.. a failure.. did I fail our marriage and being a mother because I worked so much.." He was shocked at this comment, never in his life he thought, she could be a failure, she did EVERYTHING for her family, she loved them more than her own life.

"You could NEVER be a failure, you're way too far away from being that, you are the best mother 4 children could ask for, you never failed any of us, not as being a mother and especially not as being a wife, I couldn't be more happy by marrying you, you're not perfect, no one is perfect, but you're perfect for US, and we love you.. I love you, with all my heart, I never loved a woman more than I love you. Look at those 4 kids, our kids, they are great, with this mother no wonder." She gave him a smile, a true smile, his smile, the smile he always falls in love again and again, even after 41 years, he could never get enough from her.

Out of the sudden she half jumped on him and pulled him into a kiss, he depended the kiss and pulled her close to him, she felt safe and good, she felt home, he started to pick her up and walked with her to their room, they laid down together.

She woke up and saw that Don was next to her it was 1pm, they had a long night so, she stood up when she heard the phone ringing.

"Oh hi Mer, just wanted to call in to say hi to Don, poor him complete sick, tell him to get better soon, bye Mer"

Now she smiled from ear-to-ear because she knew what he did, she went back to bed and they spend the whole day cuddling and kissing in bed.
