Jennifer Hughe and the Troublesome Two

1. New Friends in Diagon Alley

It was a quiet summer morning at the Hughes home. Jennifer woke up to a noiseless house, aside from her mother tending to the garden outside. Her book from the previous night was nestled in between her pillows and the wall that her bed was against. It was a fictional novel filled with tragic teen angst and action. Her father gifted it to her from his work with muggles. She tucked the book in her cloth satchel.

Getting up and out of bed, Jennifer changed into her clothes for the day. Her outfit consisted of some black shorts and an old band t-shirt that her father gave her. For shoes she slipped on some sandals, and quickly brushed through her hair. She then walked downstairs to grab some breakfast. Alicia, Jennifer's mother, had cooked up some bacon, jam, and biscuits. It was one of Jenni's favorites. Her younger twin siblings were still in their bedroom, so Jenni went along to wake them up.

"Masilyn! Ryker! Wake up, would you?" she shouted, swinging their door open.

"-M up, I'm up- '' Masie screeched as she was jolting awake. Ryker had done something similar, but caught himself, before he could fall from the top bunk. Jenni giggled as she walked back out the door.

"C'mon and get dressed! We're going to Diagon Alley to get Kyle's new school supplies. Everyone up and at 'em'!" they heard their mother shout just after she had come back inside.

"What time 'are we leavin' then, mum?" Colson said coming down the stairs. He was the oldest of all the Hughes children.

"In 20 minutes-I reckon after Shopping we'll stay and hang about. Grab lunch at the leaky cauldron, maybe?" their mother replied, walking past him.

"D'you think the Weasley's will be there today, Cole?" Ryker asked, already dressed. The kids started back towards the kitchen.

"Maybe-I know how they're very similar to us- shopping last-minute and all?" Cole remarked with a smirk on his face. "Ron is also starting at Hogwarts this year, like you two- as well. He'll definitely be a Gryffindor, just like the rest of the lot." he finished laughing a bit.

"What about me?" Masie questioned, hopping onto a stool. She was pulling her hair up into a messy bun, and grabbing a biscuit at the same time.

"I think you'll be either Gryffindor or Hufflepuff." Jenni replied. "You can be quite feisty when not fed!" She jokingly added. Cole had full on snorted after that, while Masie shrugged her shoulders, gulping down her food.

"A girl's gotta eat. And, at least I'm not a picky eater like you and Kyle!" She pointed towards Jenni, with a smug smile. Jenni rolled her eyes back, and grinned. She couldn't deny it. She was very picky with her food and how it was cooked. Same with her brother Kyle, who would be very defensive right now. But, he was still not downstairs.

"Speak of the devil-" Ryker said, gesturing to his older brother. "What time did you go to bed?"

"I didn't fall asleep till after 2 in the morning." He rubbed his eyes, which were filled with exhaustion. But, a mischievous smirk grew on his lips as he told his siblings of the party he went to, the previous night.

"... Then her younger brother had called her parents on us all, when she wouldn't let him stay..." Kyle was almost finished retelling his night of meeting his now girlfriend, Alexandra Malfoy.

Jenni knew Alexandra well, actually. Alex had been a student she tutored last year for extra credit. She was nice when she was by herself and quite funny, too. But, as soon as she would even see her friends from Slytherin, she went back to being a snide blood-crazy bully. Granted she didn't bully Jenni directly, but talked rude about the other three houses. Jenni guessed she would see more of Jenni before school, then. It wasn't a bad thing; Jenni just didn't like how she switched her personality so dramatically around different people.
