VALENTINE SURPRISE
Anna's pov:
It's Valentine's Day; a day all about love.
Usually for Valentine's Day, Elliot and I would go out for a nice dinner and watch a movie. Last year, we ate dinner before going to bowl.
But this year we are both too busy to see each other for today.
College isn't easy, and having a long distance relationship makes it even harder.
I haven't seen Elliot since Christmas break, and that was almost two months ago. I miss him like crazy, and I can't even go out to see him.
I have two art projects due Tuesday morning, and I have only finished one of them. Then I have two essays on historical paintings that are due Thursday, and they both have to be three pages long.
"Do you think this color is too light?" My roommate, Maggie, asked me as she looked at me.
Maggie and I became best friends since she walked in the front door. I remember she was carrying two suitcases in the room, and she tripped over one of my shoes.
All of her stuff was thrown everywhere, and we both apologized to each other. Then I helped her clean up and we got to know each other over Chinese take out and a marathon of The Office.
Maggie is all around gorgeous. She has long black hair that is pulled into a messy bun so not paint would get in it. Her dark brown eyes reminded me of dark chocolate, and her light brown skin was clear and flawless. Her body was like an hourglass.
I have a curve here and there, but I still look like a stick. But I'm fine with that. I love myself, and I am not changing my body for nobody.
"I think it looks fine. Just do a shadow underneath it," I replied, washing my brush off.
Maggie nodded,"I can see it."
I smiled as I looked at my canvas. Our assignment was to paint something from Mother Nature. I did the sea, and it is taking me forever to finish it.
Don't get me wrong, I love art, but sometimes, I would rather watch a boring game of chess than paint.
"Why are you so down over there, Anna? Something, or somebody, on your mind?" Maggie asked as she walked over to me.
She was dressed in a large oversized plain black t-shirt and a pair of white cloth shorts.
We have an apartment so we use the master bedroom for our paint area. We keep a tarp down on the floor so nothing will get ruined.
I shrugged,"It's just that it's Valentine's Day, and I can't be with Elliot right now because of everything."
"Why don't you call him? Take a break from this extraordinary painting," Maggie suggested, admiring my painting.
"I would, but he is studying for a huge test on Monday."
I went to pick up my paint brush, but Maggie grabbed my wrist, lightly. She used her other hand, and she took the brush out of my hand.
