Chapter 2

History.

Suddenly a noise broke my concentration of my successes. I heard a glass cracking downstairs. I concentrated as to what was going on, then heard a shriek then some incoherent words being muttered then silence. Suddenly I heard shoes run on the familiar wood floor outside my room. I got up and walked towards the door. Another mystery, I mused. Suddenly someone started pounding on the door.

"Open up Jake! It's 'me Lexi" it said desperately. Let's see if it is.

"Please any time now they're right behind 'me!" She wined. I peeked through the hole and saw Lexi. I produced the key from my blue jeans and opened the door. A wave of air hit 'me. Damn, my room is cold compared to the hallway.

None too soon Lexi ran in the room and closed it. Her eyes wide in fear. Her body was literally shaking. She was like someone scared of heights of heights on a roller-coaster. The shock on her face? Completely priceless.

"Keys please?" She said as she pointed to the keys of my room.

"Sure" I replied calmly as I handed her the keys. My insides were screaming but I had to keep a straight face and demeanor. She walked to the door and fumbled with the keys. She finally brought up the keys with shaky hands and inserted it into the hole. With a thud it locked. Satisfied, she turned and faced me.

"Jake behind us is someone you don't wanna know who!" Lexi warned as she took some deep breaths. Man she was going to pee in her pants soon.

"Who?" I asked. Another mystery at my hands.

"Yaîsën Jandoljvich. You haven't heard of him because he's only known to the FBI." She told 'me.

"What! The FBI said they told 'me everything!" I fumed. Yea not knowing blows 'me off the hook. Especially because they told me I would get all information about anything. I am a world class detective after all.

"Oh there's a reason. Think of everyone you've tooken out" she said quietly.

"59? maybe more?" I said. Not knowing where this was going.

"He is worse then them all together. And his gang? They're unbeatable!" she finished darkly.

"Oh and if the public found out, it would be chaos" She added almost as an afterthought. And on that happy note we stared at each other in silence.

"Can your so called charms work on them?" I questioned with a grin. Gesturing my hands in a you-all-ways-Bragg-about-it wave.

"Your fighting can't." She retorted.

"Or real?" I asked suddenly very afraid. Not many people could take me on and beat me. Even Lexi knew that. So if she said it, they must be strong.

"Yea." she replied as she took some deep breaths.

"Dam that's a problem." I finished.

"Oh and about your coke...." She said as she furrowed her eye brows.

"Don't worry!" I replied, pointing my hands in a 'stop' position.
