"You never told me to remind you."
Kageyama said, folding t-shirts and placing them into the maroon suitcase. "And why did you just remember to pack?" There was a rustle, and Hinata closed the closet door. "Come on, I was busy looking for places to train! And available places to rent!" he retorted, stuffing sunscreen and volleyballs into a gym bag. "I probably also need a part time job or two!"
The taller man sighed. Kageyama went to the washroom, and returned with Hinata's towels and daily necessities. Putting them all into a bag, he opened another compartment on the case and stuffed it in. Hinata gently put his old volleyball shoes into the bag as well.
"Why'd you put those in?" Kageyama asked, heaving the suitcase off from the now messy bed. Hinata shrugged, placing the bag beside the luggage. "It's sort of like a...y'know, like a 'wish me luck' thing." "Oh. Understandable."
Then Hinata remembered something, and then he was looking for something in his closet. Soon he tossed something at Kageyama's head. "Ow- Isn't this my cap?" He held up the navy blue "Hollywood" hat so he could take a better look at it. "Yes, this is my cap. I haven't seen it in months."
"I think you dunked in on my head last summer." Hinata said, scratching the back of his neck. "I kinda forgot about it." Kageyama stared at the young man for a moment. Then, he put the cap on Hinata's head. "You keep it." "Oh. 'Kay."
The two rushed about, and when the sky turned dark, they got everything ready. They both slumped down onto the bed. "Nii-chan! Tobio! Mom and I cut up some apples!" Natsu said, walking through the wide-open doorway. She placed the plate beside Kageyama's head and dropped a wallet and a small red pouch on her brother's face.
"It's for good luck. Take it with you when you leave for Brazil!" she called, already running out of the room. Hinata sat up, and looked at the omamori in his palm with a small smile on his face. He stood up, and placed them on his clothes for tomorrow. Kageyama followed and stood near the door.
"Let's go to the porch." he said, sticking an apple slice into Hinata's mouth before walking out. They walked in silence through the hallways. Hinata pulled the door shut before sitting down on the cool grass with Kageyama. The sky was mostly clear of gray clouds, and the stars were shining bright that night.
"You got scouted by a lot of teams, right?" he asked. "Yup. Guess I'm going ahead of you again." Kageyama replied, letting a small smirk stretch across his face. Hinata lightly punched his arm. "Not for long though, Kageyama. I'm gonna kick your ass when I come back from Brazil."
The other just chuckled. "I'm counting on that, Hinata."
A prolonged silence ensued, and it suddenly all dawned upon them. Hinata was leaving, going alone to another place far, far away from home. From his friends and family. From Kageyama.
He knew that Hinata was leaving, third to get the news. When Hinata was talking about it to Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei, Kageyama felt a surge of pride. He was proud of his boyfriend, and he was glad that he stayed by his side, learning and improving alongside him.
Hinata leaned his head on Kageyama's shoulder, shuffling closer. "Hey." "Hm?" "Can we stay like this for a while?" he asked. The raven-haired male pulled him closer, laying his head on Hinata's. "Sure."
The evening wind blew, and the shorter male's unruly tufts tickled Kageyama's face. "A long-distance relationship must be pretty hard." Hinata breathed out, snuggling into the crook of Kageyama's neck.
They were both afraid of leaving each other. Living continents away from one another sounded quite awful. Kageyama intertwined their hands, Hinata's smaller hand fitting perfectly in his.
But as long as they don't give up, Kageyama thinks that they'll be okay.
Hinata gave his hand a small squeeze.

"Bye Hinata-kun! Good luck!" Yachi said, wiping her tears. "Don't forget to keep in touch!" Yamaguchi added, waving. Tsukishima sighed. "Hinata is right in front of you. No need to shout."
"Hehe. I guess we got carried away." the young woman smiled sheepishly. "Mhm." Kageyama said, cracking a small smile. Hinata took a deep breath, and pulled them into a group hug. Or at least, he tried to.
"Thank you all for coming. I couldn't ask for more." he said, grinning. Pulling away, Hinata gave envelopes to all of them. "Open them when I'm gone. No peeking Tsukishima!" The tall blond scrunched his nose, denying the fact he was going to open it.
Hinata spent his last week here thinking hard about what he was going to write to each and one of his friends. He already mailed his childhood friends and his former upperclassmen from the volleyball team the letters, since they couldn't come over to see him off.
Writing was never his forte, but Hinata felt that it was important to leave each and one of them something before he leaves. He walked over to say his farewells to his family.
"Natsu, since I'm leaving for some time, you have to take care of Okaa-san for me." Hinata said, bringing his sister and mother into an embrace. "I will Onii-chan. Take care of yourself in Brazil." Natsu buried her face into Hinata's shirt, holding back tears.
"If your father was here, he'd be so proud of you, Shou-chan." his mother whispered, stroking his hair. "My son has grown up." Hinata pulled back, wiping away his tears. "I'll make you guys proud!" he proclaimed, beaming.
He waved his last goodbyes. Hinata stopped in front of Kageyama. The taller male pulled him in and gently pressed his lips on Hinata's. "I'll be waiting for you." Kageyama whispered, their foreheads touching.
Blue met hazel, and swirls of golden sunlight and deep, ocean blue joined together. Hinata had so much he wanted to say to Kageyama, and the tangle of emotions in the other's dark eyes said the same. But they didn't say a word, only savouring this last moment.
"Don't miss me too much." Hinata lightly teased, his hazel orbs glistening with unshed tears. Kageyama's ears went red, and pulled him into one last hug. "The same goes for you." he mumbled.
When they parted, Hinata was already missing Kageyama's warmth. But he knew he had to go. So he hoped his short words in the letter would be enough. "Bye bye! I'm gonna go now! Thank you for everything!" he shouted as he walked away, waving. "Bye!" the group hollered back.
As he ventured further, Hinata was soon lost amongst the crowd. Kageyama opened the envelope.
Thank you, Kageyama, for being the best teammate, vice-captain, best friend, and boyfriend. Thank you for always being by my side.
He saw larger words at the very bottom.
I love you.
