"My name is Kim Miyeon. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Do Ji-han." Miyeon smiled warmly as she extended her hand to shake Ji- han's.

"The pleasure is mine, Ms. Kim," the veteran prosecutor replied, returning her smile. Ji-han felt something he'd never felt before when their hands finally touched. It's as if a bolt of lightning struck his heart, causing it to pound loudly enough for him to hear and his breathing to become erratic.

The First Meeting

Do Ji-han had dedicated his entire life to his career, and he had never had any other interests. Many women admired him, not only for his good looks, but also for his wit and reputation. Despite the fact that many women were interested in him, he never became interested in any of them. For him, his work was everything, and he would never have time for romantic relationships. However, on the day he and his chief investigator, Yang Soo-dong, were reassigned to Eastern Seoul, his perspective on love and relationships shifted dramatically.

"This is bad. We're late," Soo-dong said as he quickly drove through the roads of Eastern Seoul. "Sir, they don't take us seriously because we're from Busan. I was the number one drug buster five years in a row at Busan Central. Shouldn't we go to the Special Branch? Violent Crimes? At Eastern Seoul? This is just crazy!"

"You think you're all that, Mr. Yang?" Ji-han made an aloof remark, clearly uninterested, as he sat back in the passenger seat, scrolling through his phone. "Do you need medicine? Stop talking."

"This is just wrong. No backers doesn't mean we have no pride," Soo-dong rambled on. "Okay, fine. Is this it? They take all the big cases and ditched us-" Soo-dong's chit-chat was cut short when he was interrupted by Ji-han, who had found a particular headline that piqued his interest.

"Quiet. Quiet. Hey, we have something great." He pushed the backrest of his seat up. "Let's go."

"What? Where to?"

"Here," Ji-han showed his phone to Soo-dong. "I'll doubt we'll be bored here." He gave the now-interested chief investigator a light chuckle. "Don't stare or you'll crash. Let's go to Wuseong-dong."

Miyeon was travelling down the leafy path towards the crime scene. She had run some errands for Prosecutor Eun while also being assigned to work with her on this case. As she approached the scene, she overheard Lieutenant Cha Soo-ho conversing with an unknown voice. As she got closer, she could hear what was left of their conversation.

"Hello. I'm Yang Soo-dong, Mr. Do's Investigator."

"Hello.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Yang- It sounds like a word for 'chicken coop'. Haha... Sorry."

"Are you making fun of last names again, Lieutenant Cha?" Miyeon inquired, coming to a halt beside the police officer. She then addressed the man she assumed to be Mr. Yang, saying, "Mr. Yang, please accept my apologies. Lieutenant Cha did not mean to offend you, but I hope you and Lieutenant Cha get along."

Ji-han raised his brows at the young woman who had just arrived, and his jaws dropped slightly. Generally, he is uninterested in women, regardless of how attractive they are. Seeing this new face struck him differently, but he couldn't put his finger on what it was. Soo-dong's voice interrupted his train of thought.

"Don't be concerned. Are you also from the Eastern District?"

"Yes. I'm assuming you're the new deputy chief prosecutor we've been waiting for?"
