Miyeon's ex-boyfriend was sentenced to life in prison for what he did to her a month ago. Ji-han worked tirelessly to win that case for her. It was regarded as another promise kept.
Even though everything worked out in their favor, Miyeon hadn't been the same since. Her previous experience had traumatized her. She was terrified of being touched, even if it was unintentional. Because the nightmares didn't stop, she struggled to get a good night's sleep. She was even afraid to go home alone because she was always aware that someone was watching her. Even in the safety of her own home, she was uneasy.
Miyeon would cry out of nowhere at times, and it was difficult for the others to calm her down. Do Ji-han, the person who had saved her, was the only one who could.
Ji-han had just returned from his field work when he rushed to shield Miyeon and hold her as tight as he could, whispering soothing words until he could feel her start to calm down during one of Miyeon's sudden outbursts in the office, when the newly-appointed Chief Prosecutor Gal approached her without any knowledge of her trauma. The chief prosecutor had no idea what was going on until Yang Soo-dong filled him in. Although Prosecutor Gal immediately apologized and left them alone for a while, Ji-han couldn't help but throw daggers at the man out of instinct, despite knowing that the chief prosecutor was unaware of Miyeon's ordeal.

"A body of an unknown female was discovered near Dongdaemun District not more than two hours ago," Miyeon informed Ji-han and Soo-dong as they navigated the congested streets. "The NFS is already on their way to the scene, but the victim appeared to have been raped and strangled to death, according to the person who discovered the body."
"Ms. Eun and the others are currently on their way to another scene with the same M.O. as the victim." Soo-dong made a remark. "Do you believe they're linked?"
"Perhaps," Ji-han said. "The distances between the crime scenes aren't too far apart."
Miyeon caught the senior prosecutor's eye in the rearview mirror. He could tell she was worried about what might have happened to the victims mentioned. He tried to talk her out of this case, but she insisted on accompanying him, claiming that she didn't want to be any more of a burden than she already was.
"Are you sure about this, Miyeon?" Ji-han inquired as they approached the scene. "You may remain in the car if-"
"I can do it," Miyeon interjected. "Let's go."
As Miyeon moved forward, the two men exchanged worried glances.
Soo-dong let out a sigh. "Lee Dong-pil. Even while imprisoned, he continues to haunt her."
"What matters is that we ensured that the jerk got what he deserved. For the time being, we should help Miyeon in moving on."
"Mr. Do, you genuinely care about her. You rarely pay attention to anything other than cases, let alone women."
"There's just...something about Ms. Kim that piqued my interest."
"Mr. Do, you don't mean-"
"Enough of that, Mr. Yang," Ji-han interjected. "We've been here long enough.

Not long ago, the boys were able to catch up to Miyeon. They arrived just in time for the National Forensics Service to recover the body from the bushes. Because the path was too narrow for the rest of them to enter and investigate, Dr. Ma instructed the prosecution to remain behind.
