Suspenders [Sycholls]

So my friend gave me the start of this idea when we were talking about the bmth concerts and how Mat is the only one wearing suspenders (we both went to see them) and I am still not comfortable writing about present Oli and Mat so we managed to work around it and have it set in 2011 or whatever-

Yikes this was so not meant to turn out like this but I like this better than my other idea- and sorry this is so fucked up this is a literal train wreck I exclusively wrote when I was overtired at like 1am-

Mat always thought he was the more dominant one in the relationship, it just made sense to him and he never really thought about it too much, he was taller than Oli and just gave off the more dominant vibes. So by thinking this, he thought he could get away with anything, but all he did was massively underestimate his smaller boyfriend and how explosive his temper really was.

It happened on the last song of the first day of tour with You Me At Six, they were doing warped tour together so it made sense to do a song or two for the fans.

Mat never had anything against any of the ymas boys, sure he got into a few harmless arguments with Dan about drumming techniques or about how Mat was too energetic but he always had a fun time when both bands hung out. But unfortunately, today just had to change that for him.

He always tried to ignore when Oli and Josh got a bit too close on stage or at parties, just telling himself they were too into the music or in the moment to notice and it all meant nothing, but he just couldn't keep lying to himself anymore.

He never said anything about it, just hoping it would run its course and fade out and he could have his boyfriend back. He would have said something but he didn't want to make things awkward between any of them or have Oli get mad at him.

So during their first show when it was time for Josh to come on stage, Mat just tried his best to zone everything out and get on with playing.

When he heard the crowd go even crazier, he knew Josh was on and he couldn't help but look over at him, seeing Oli with his arm already around Josh's waist as he announced to the crowd that they had brought him on for a song. Anyone else would have seen them and just thought Oli was being friendly and welcoming Josh on but Mat saw different, especially when Oli's arm dropped lower down Josh's back.

Although Mat continued playing as he was supposed to, his eyes never left Josh and Oli. He watched them like a hawk from where he was at the back, not even caring if anyone saw him staring.

He couldn't believe Oli, sure the other day they had a small argument over something but it wasn't a big deal, surely Oli couldn't be mad at him over that. He didn't do anything wrong to deserve his boyfriend touching up another guy in front of him and hundreds of other people.

Mat's eyebrows furrowed into a glare and he played harder, putting all his frustration and anger into playing the song that caused his boyfriend to do what he was doing.

Mat wanted to walk off so bad but he knew Oli would be beyond pissed, especially if he found out why. So he just continued playing until he nearly missed a beat for the first time in his life, his mouth dropping open in shock when Oli suddenly dropped onto his knees in front of Josh.

He didn't even want to look at Josh's face as he threaded his hand in Oli's hair and tugged him forward harshly, the both of them still doing what they usually would, acting like they hadn't just pretended to do what they did in front of everyone.

Josh knew Mat was there, Oli knew Mat was there. They all knew they were dating, everyone besides the crowd knew.

And Mat saw red, he white-knuckled his drumsticks and bit his lip hard, tasting the metallic taste of blood soon after. He didn't want to say or do anything that would make the situation worse and he wanted to ignore it so bad but as the crowd went wild at what Josh and Oli were doing, he couldn't ignore it even if he tried.
