I nervously watch as the ref leans down and checks for a pulse. He lets out a sigh of relief which leads me to believe he is in fact alive. The crowd cheers, they love the carnage and they couldn't care less whether he lives or dies. If anything, they prefer the latter. "Get him out of here!" The ref shouts to the bouncers standing outside of the cage. He tries not to let me see the disappointed look on his face, but it was too late. Once the rage is out of me, I tend to regret what I have done. This time is no different.

Fuck.

I snatch my hoodie off the bench and grab my shit. I need to get out of here. I hate being here, but I have to. It is my therapy. After the incident I tried going to a psychiatrist for months. Finally, my doctor gave up because I wouldn't talk. I'll never talk about that god forsaken day or the days that followed. I just wish that for once I wasn't a danger to those around me.

Geraldo sees me as I try to make a speedy exit and he helps clear the area for me. He knows that I only go through the employee entrance. After a bunch of pissed off fighters tried to jump me, I had to start taking precautions, which now includes my Glock. We reach the back entrance and he nods goodbye to me as I walk through the open door.

The air is crisp as the wind whips down the dark alley. I wish I had a warm coat but thankfully my car is nearby. I hear a van door slam shut as I approach the corner. The mystery man from earlier drops to the ground with a syringe still in his neck. Three men stand around him with black ski masks. My car is just past their van, if I just wait back here for a minute, I should be safe. I duck behind a dumpster and grab my pistol from my bag. Suddenly I am grateful for the training I've had with Luis at the range.

"I don't understand why we can't just shoot him right now?? Why does boss want him alive so badly?"

"Do you want to call capo and tell him you prevented him from getting the satisfaction of doing it himself?!"

ARE YOU REALLY GONNA LET THEM DO THIS?!

They drugged him just to abduct, torture and kill him.

Which means two things:

1. They are cowards.2. He must be so powerful that even three to one, they know they would lose the fight.

YOU CAN'T LET THESE COWARDS DO THIS! A MAN THIS POWERFUL DESERVES TO DIE WITH DIGNITY!!

Fuck, I'm gonna regret this.

Clicking the safety off and racking the slide back, I round the corner quickly. Before they can notice my presence I fire my first shot.

Headshot. He drops.

The two others whip around to face me and before they can pull their guns, I fire off the next shot hitting the one closest to me.

Headshot.

His body collapses at my feet. The obvious weak link of the group is the only target remaining. Even through the mask I can see the fear in his eyes as I fire the last shot. In almost slow motion, I watch as his body drops to the ground splashing in the puddle of grime beneath him.

Pinching the bridge of my nose as I always do when I am deep in thought, I begin to run through potential options in my head.

Deep breath Mitch, think!

FUCK!

Without hesitating, I pull my phone out and dial Luis's number as fast as I can. He immediately answers on the first ring. "Mrs. Collins, what is the problem??" I can always count on him to be available and ready, which I love. "Luis. I need a clean-up crew for three at my evening meeting spot." I robotically tell him, my voice void of any emotion. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I have made this request, so he is fully aware of what it means.

Before he can respond a black sedan speeds up the alley that I just came from. I duck behind the dumpster and hide the light from my phone. "Mrs. Collins?? Its Luis, you can come out."

I step out from behind the dumpster closing the distance between us. "That was fast, trailing me again I presume?" Asking with a disapproving glare before scanning the bodies scattered across the concrete. "Yes, Ma'am." He says looking away towards the crime scene surrounding me. "There are three bodies, all with gunshots to the head."

Luis pops open his trunk and grabs a pair of gloves. "Ma'am, please tell me you used the firearm I gave you?" As I hand it over, he recognizes it and his posture relaxes a bit. "Wait? I see four bodies. Only 3 with gunshot wounds." Luis questions as he approaches the unknown man's body checking for a pulse.

"He is still alive, ma'am. Should we fix that?"

"NO!" I shout out unable to contain my anger at the mere idea. Luis is taken back by my outburst. Clearing my throat, I compose myself. "I'll be taking him with me. Help me load him in the car." I instruct while opening my car door gesturing to the front seat. He leans down snapping a photo of the man's face.

"Ma'am, are you sure that is a good idea? Who is he? I don't feel comfortable sending you alone with an unknown drugged man." Rolling my eyes at his overprotective concern, "Yes, I am sure. I don't know who this man is, but I wasn't going to let them kill him and judging by the five-thousand-dollar suit. I think it's safe to say he isn't some lowlife. Now, are you going to help me or not?" Sensing the agitation in my voice, he knows not to push me further.

I take his upper half while Luis carries his legs. We somehow managed to lift the six foot-five inch man who felt like carrying a sack of bricks into the front seat of my Bentley. Closing the door, Luis reaches into his suit taking one of the handguns from his vest holster and passes it to me. A van appears in the alley turning off their headlights as they approach us. I reach for my firearm but Luis places his hand on my arm. "Ma'am, they are with me. We'll take care of the mess. You need to get out of here." He instructs with urgency gesturing to the vehicle. I walk around the car but before I get in, I stop and turn to him. "Luis. I want a full brief on all four of them ASAP. I want to know everything. Who they are and why they tried to kill him."

Starting up the car, the engine roars to life. I carefully but quickly navigate through the trash making my way out on to the main road. As I race through the inner city, I am finally able to get a good look at this person for the first time. Trying as hard as I can to keep my eyes on the road and not on the beautiful dangerous man sitting beside me. A man who I don't even know but killed for.
