Third person POV
It was a normal, cloudy Monday as Harriet got dropped off by her parents and started walking into school. She looks at all the friend groups chatting and snickering around her as she enters the school premises.
'First lesson, R.E. Great, just perfect.' Harriet thought to herself as she looks at her timetable. She goes through the the designated door and starts the climb up to the top floor, floor 3. Once she gets there, most of the class is already there, waiting in the class on their phones or sitting patiently for the teacher.
"Why are you so late? It's already 9:20." Harriet's friend, Mia, asks her.
"Parents were holding me up, they were talking about me getting into one of those clubs or something." Harriet replies, shoving her bag under the table and sitting down. "Where's Mr Jennings?"
Mia sighs, "Late again, you know how it is." Harriet only nods in return when the door opens, revealing a mysterious person.
Harriet giggles a bit and leans over to Mia, whispering, "Someones got the wrong classroom, how embarrassing." Mia quietly laughs at my statement, "You know, I feel kind of bad for her, I've never seen her around anywhere before, is she new do you think?"
"I wouldn't be surprised, I mean- What the fuck is she doing?" Mia responds curiously, Harriet looks back to the person as she goes to sit down in the spare seat next to her. The person sits down not saying a word and focusing on the board, looking unbothered.
After a long period of staring, Harriet finally speaks up to her, "Can I help you?" She says, with a look that's saying 'What do you want'.
"I'm new, can't you tell, thicko?" The girl replies, still looking at the board. Harriet, taken aback by the words, looks at Mia for help, mouthing the words 'What do I do???' Mia just shrugs.
"Soooo, uh.. What's your name then? We can be friends if you don't know anyone, our friend group is pretty nice and welcoming, you just can't invite people without permission. Our assessor, Isha, checks their qualities before they get the check to join."
"Qualities? What qualities?" She says, confused and finally looking at me.
"Basically like looks, personality, the way they type, the list could go on forever."
"Harsh, don't you think?"
"Nope! Not at all." Harriet says smiling.
"Then, I'll consider it." The girl says, looking back to the board. "And my name's Janaya, and you are..?"
"I'm Harriet! I love your name Janaya, it's so pretty!" Harriet says excitedly grinning and leaning closer.
Janaya's cheeks go slightly red at the kindness, "Thank you.." She says back, looking down at the table infront.
Timeskip to lunch
"She has period blood hair." Isha tells the friend group while she's assessing Janaya from afar. "Everything else, alright though." All of them knew she was just joking, and loved everything about Janaya.
"So, we're inviting her?" Harriet asks them all.
They all leave positive replies as Harriet goes off towards Janaya.
"What." Janaya asks sternly.
"Come on! You're coming with us now." Harriet drags Janaya up from her seat and wraps her arm around her neck maybe a little bit too tight, dragging Janaya down to her height. Harriet brings Janaya over to the friend group and they all introduce themselves.
"Mia." Blonde bitch. Janaya thought to herself.
"My name is Sage." Looks like a Margaret.
"Isha." I'm gonna forget your name in 5 minutes.
"I'm Kaysha." Ok
"Ziyi!" Why's she clinging onto Isha's arm like that.. Weird.
Then, the voice from Janaya's side speaks up. Janaya didn't realize how close they actually were, which made her heart rate go up a bit. "And I'm Harriet!"
Janaya sweeps Harriet's hand off of her shoulder and looks at them all. "Janaya, nice to meet you all."
Suddenly, the bell rings and it's time to go back to class again. The rest of the day was a blur, but Harriet remembered to ask Janaya an important question.
Janaya's POV -
I left the school, now beginning to walk home, but before I could get anywhere far I hear the familiar voice of Harriet approaching.
"Janaya!"
I turn around to see Harriet running to me, I wait for her to get up to me until I ask what she wants.
"What's your number? I wanna be able to talk to you out of school." The question catches me off guard, but I come back to reality and slowly tell Harriet my number.
"Thanks! I'll message you later, bye!" She smiles at me and starts running off again to Mia and they start walking away.
I stare at them until I'm not able to see them anymore, and I carry on walking home.
--------
After a long time of walking, I get back home and look at my phone to see 3 new messages from an unknown number
