As a well known artist, Clary Fairchild spent another Saturday night talking to potential new clients who admired her art. During the conversation with her manager Alisha Warmnight she noticed a man standing alone and looking at her. Clary had an instant feeling she knew him from somewhere. When the man noticed Clary's eyes on him he became nervous as Clary came closer.
- Hey! - said Clary with excitement in her voice and a sparkle of curiosity.
The man seems even more confused, checking behind his shoulder and pointing his finger at his chest as if he was making sure she is talking to him. Clary nodded.
- You can see me?- said the man with doubt in his eyes.
-Of course I can see...
Before Clary finished the sentence the man was gone in panic. Clary stood there for a second trying to remember who the man was and then decided to follow him outside.
-Wait!!
The man stopped for a moment and slowly turned keeping his eyes down as if he was scared or ashamed.
- Jace, right?
His eyes widened when he heard his name coming from her mouth. He thought he will never hear Clary Fairchild saying his name.
- Yes! How do you know my name?- asked Jace
- I don't know, honestly, but I am positive we have met before.
At this point, Jace was questioning everything he knew. How is this even possible? How does she even remember him?
- Look, I am in a rush right know. I gotta get back to the inst... , my house and help my brother with the miss... I mean assignment. For school.
- Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe I'll see you again.
- Maybe! - said Jace while already walking away.
Jace stood in front of the institute for a while thinking what just happened. How is it even possible that Clary Fairchild remembers him? What if angels forgave her? What if she got her powers back? Suddenly, he heard steps behind him, high heels, and right away a very familiar voice.
- So I guess you live in a castle? - said Clary smiling.
Jace was surprised. She can see the Institute as well.
- I am sorry, I kinda followed you, and I know it sounds weird maybe even creepy, but... There was just something about you that doesn't add up. Like, I know you but I just can't figure out where or when we met it's crazy...
Clary was speaking uncontrollably but her speech was interrupted by an ugly creature jumping at them. Jace got his blade and was ready to kill the beast, but he didn't notice he dropped his stele on the ground. While he was fighting, Clary noticed the stele and picked it up. As soon as her fingers touched Jace's stele she had a vision of extraordinary symbol and, with no hesitation, drew the symbol on her hand.
Jace stabbed the creature and kept looking at Clary.
- What have you done, Clary? -asked Jace
-You know my name? - Clary responded with another question.
- What is this place? What is this symbol, I keep seeing it, what was the thing that attacked us??
Jace took her hand as e was taking her to the institute and he whispered
-That was a demon. God, I have to go through all this again.
They got in the institute and Clary was shocked. She knew this place from somewhere but couldn't remember the details. However, she felt like she is exactly where she is supposed to be, like she belongs there.
As soon as they walked in the main room all eyes were on Clary which made her feel weird but she believed there is something she doesn't know about this place. She noticed a girl wearing black dress with glitter on the edges, in very fancy black high heels, holding a paper in her hand as she was looking at Clary with tears in her eyes.
-By the angel, it cannot be her.
The woman came closer to make sure she is not hallucinating.
- Clary? Is that really you? - said the woman sobbing in disbelief.
Clary opened her mouth as if she was about to say something when a tall, dark haired man came in pushing Jace screaming at him.
- How could you bring her here?? You want angels to punish us as well? You wanna live the rest of your life like my mother, like a mundane? Is that what you want???
The woman was trying to separate the man and Jace.
-Alec, stop it!! You can't treat your parabatai like this.
Alec took a step back, and Jace spoke looking at the woman:
- Isabelle, take Alec to my office and wait for me there. I have to take care of Clary.
Isabelle and Alec were headed to Jace's office while Jace took Clary's hand and took her to the room she used to have last year. As he closed the door behind him he told her to look through the room and see if anything there looks familiar, if she remembers anything. Clary nodded as Jace left the room, locking the door behind him to make sure Clary stays in the room and not bring attention to herself. As he came to the office, Alexander and Isabelle looked at him with worried faces.
- How is that even possible? - asked Izzy while Alec was just looking at Jace in desire for answers.
- I don't know. She saw me when I was glamoured and she also saw the institute and the demons who attacked us. She remembers my name as well.
- Do you think Angels forgave her? - asked Alec.
- I don't think so. If that was the case she would have all her memories back. - said Jace.
- Maybe it's step by step. Maybe she is still developing her memories? - said Izzy
- Maybe, but how can we explain this to the Clave? And if this is a false alarm we could get another mundane find out about shadowworld and you know how that goes. - said Alec.
- Look guys, I am also confused and irritated about not knowing why is this happening. But Clary... she took my stele and drove a shadow hunter rune on her arm. If she was a mundane, she wouldn't survive that. - said Jace
Alec took his phone out and called his husband, high warlock of Brooklyn to see if he can get more information about this situation. Jace and Izzy went to check on Clary. When Jace unlocked the door they found Clary sitting on the floor and crying.
Izzy came up to her trying to hug her but Clary pushed her away. Clary stood up and looked at Jace who couldn't stand not being able to hug her in this moment. As he looked down he noticed a picture of Jocelyn in Clary's hand.
- How could you all just forget about me like that. How could you leave me live as a mundane all this time. I was lost, I felt like half of my life was deleted once again. I had no idea where my mom was, I had to live not knowing if she is alive or dead.
-Clary, I'm so sorry but your mom is...
- dead! I know Izzy. Thank your for reminding me.
Clary stopped when she saw a young man standing at the door looking at her in disbelief.
- Simon! - said Clary while running to hug him.
- Clary I can't believe you are actually back.
- I know, I remember everything, I missed you so much.
- I missed you too, Clary.
Clary let go of Simon turning to Jace who was looking through the window trying to hide the tears coming out of his green eyes. She came up to him placing her hand on his shoulder.
- Hey. Clary said as if she was trying to comfort him.
Jace looked at her and hugged her the hardest he could, letting all of the tears to come out, not caring that, for the first time, people get to see this vulnerable side of him.
Izzy came to Simon and kissed him.
- We should leave them some space. - said Isabelle and Simon followed her out.
Jace started kissing Clary like there was no tomorrow. Like she was just a hallucination he got after all this time of grieving for her. They were making out passionately while coming closer to the bed, and falling on it. One by one piece of cloth was on the floor and their bodies were finally synchronized for the first time in their lives. Something they both wished for is finally becoming true. Getting chills, listening to each other's heart beating, making love.
The next morning, Clary woke up. Even though she felt the urge to go back to sleep she decided to fight it and get out of her bed. While sitting in her pyjamas, Clary smiled remembering the last night. She is finally reunited with Jace, her true love.
As she went to the main room she found Alec and Izzy looking at the monitor. She asked what's new and Izzy explained how they have been battling with a new clan of vampires in her absence.
- Great! - said Clary - it's finally time to go back to normal, like killing demons and solving down world problems.
- I don't think it's a good idea to have you on the floor right away. Maybe you'd need some time to, you know process all this" - said Alec discouraging Clary to go on a mission.
- I am more than fine. I'm finally back to my old life.
- As a head of the Institute I say she goes with me. - said Izzy while giving Clary a warm smile.
-It's nice to have you back, Clary.
- It's nice to be back, Izzy.
Clary hugged Izzy and they both left for their mission.
They found one of the vampires dead in an ally in New York downtown. His body was covered in blood and his skin was burning. Someone stabbed him in the heart. As the investigation went on they have found the place of residence of the clan they have been looking for. It was an abandoned school. But the second they tried to open the door they heard a strange sound, something like a wind above their heads. They both looked up and saw shadows flying over the school. There was no other option then returning to the institute, but at least they had a very useful information. The vampire clan is not on their own. They have partnered with spirits called jinns. Knowing the New York Institute will not be able to handle the jinns, Isabelle decided to write a fire letter to an institute in Istanbul, Turkey. She knew if anyone can deal with jinns it would be Muslims.
