God he wanted to retire. Go work at a quiet job. Live in a peaceful town for a few hundred years. But no, he was back here trying to figure out what the hell to do about a pain in the ass woman and some unknown vampire threat.
Well, he guessed introductions were in order. He didn’t know what else to do really. He was stuck they needed to examine the shifters collar and he wasn’t sure about what to do with Petro.
Oh hell, he thought, might as well get it done now. He stood up and walked out of his office.
Lydia was out watching her kids play with the huge dog named Sam. He was the biggest most lovable dog she had known. The kids absolutely adored him. She sighed, she was never going to be able to take him away from her kids.
She heard Jared clear his throat behind her.
“Ahem, excuse me miss,” he said with a smile.
“That sounds familiar,” she commented back.
He sat down beside her on the grass. It has been such a long time since he’s done anything as simple as just sit in the grass. He looked at her. She was sitting there with a pair of jeans and a pretty cotton t-shirt on. It was un-tucked and just hung over her pants. The look was simple but he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off of her.
“Something you wanted?” She asked as she scolded one of her kids for chasing Sam.
“Would you come with me for a few minutes? There is someone I want you to meet,” he asked her as politely as he could.
“I suppose. My damn kids aren’t even paying any attention to me with Sam around. I think they love him more than me now,” she laughed softly at it.
“He’s a good boy. Most animals are …with the right love,” good god where did that come from?
“Yes well who are we meeting then?” She seemed to be stammering and her cheeks were a soft pink now. He liked that. He had to remind himself to make her blush more often.
“John can you keep an eye on the kids for a while,” he asked.
John smiled and walked towards the girls, “I would be honored!”
He stood up and helped Lydia to her feet. He noticed she felt oddly warm where his fingers touched her.
“Yes well follow me then,” he turned and walked.
She followed him to the same building he had first brought her to before. She stopped. She hadn’t been back in here since she had shifted back and now she was nervous to go back in.
She sighed and started in after him. She remembered these hallways. The plain white walls, the yellow stripe and the grey doors. She felt her apprehension growing. She did trust Jared. There was no reason not to. But she couldn’t help it. The rush of emotions she felt that day was still over whelming. They turned and stood in front of the same exact elevator. She felt herself getting nervous again and she started shaking.
