Body Swap But Both Benefit

Chiyo Mihama let her friends from school stay at her house during their twelfth grade school year. One of her friends was Sakaki, who had the opposite problem that Chiyo did. Chiyo skipped five grades at once, getting into 10th grade at ten years old, but wasn't taken seriously due to both her young age and short height. She was short even compared to other kids her age. Sakaki adored small and cute things and would rather be one, but she was really tall and had great athletic skill. She was also shy, but since she didn't talk much, her classmates mistakenly thought of her as cool.

Sakaki slept on the floor in Chiyo's room while she slept on her bed. But when they both woke up, they were in opposite locations. Chiyo was the first one to get up, and she was confused, especially when she saw what she thought was herself sleeping on her bed. Looking down, she noticed that she had a more curved chest than she was used to. She saw Maya, Sakaki's pet cat, sleeping next to her, and she realized what had happened. She and Sakaki had swapped bodies.

Thinking about it, Chiyo wondered if she would be happier in Sakaki's body. The next thought she had was wondering if Sakaki would enjoy being in a petite body. Before she could continue thinking to herself, Sakaki in Chiyo's body had gotten up. She looked down and asked, "Why am I in your bed, Chiyo-chan?"

Sakaki's voice now sounded like Chiyo's. She did a double take when she saw what looked like herself where she had fallen asleep. The body swapped girls made eye contact. Breaking the silence, Chiyo said, "I already figured out that we swapped bodies, Miss Sakaki."

Chiyo's voice now sounded like Sakaki's, but that was the first time she heard her voice in her new body. She asked, "Miss Sakaki, should we make our class unaware that our bodies have been swapped? Or should we be open with that?"

Sakaki didn't know which of those she should do. Her shyness meant that she felt explaining it would be harder unless Chiyo did it. Rather than ask her, though, Sakaki said, "Chiyo-chan, let's not tell them that we swapped bodies."

Chiyo accepted this even though she knew it would be difficult. She noticed that her dog, Mr. Tadakichi, seemed to prefer being around Chiyo in Sakaki's body than Sakaki in Chiyo's body. The now tall girl said, "Mr. Tadakichi, how did you know that I'm in Miss Sakaki's body? And I won't be able to ride on you anymore. Unless we swap back."

Being a dog, he couldn't speak or understand human languages except as part of commands. Maya also seemed to prefer being around his now short owner. Sakaki assumed he also knew that she had swapped bodies, and she also knew that Chiyo was referring to her when she mentioned swapping back.

The two walked to school, both of them saying nothing in case someone was listening and got suspicious. Kaori "Kaorin," who neither Chiyo nor Sakaki knew the family name of, ran up to Chiyo in Sakaki's body behind her.

She said, "I love you, Miss Sakaki! You're the only person I want as my girlfriend! You're so cool!"

Kaorin didn't know she was talking to Chiyo, but Sakaki was right there. Chiyo said, "I-I'm Chiyo."

Kaorin was confused, so she said, "Are you impersonating her? Did I just reveal that I'm lesbian to someone different?!"

Sakaki spoke up and said, "I'm Sakaki."

The girl who had a crush on her was confused even more. Chiyo said, "Last night, I swapped bodies with Sakaki. I don't know how that happened or how to reverse it."

Kaorin turned to Sakaki and said, "Please let me be your girlfriend!"

Sakaki didn't know what to say. Kaorin's image of her was not who she really was. Chiyo said, "Miss Sakaki actually likes cute things. I wanted to be taken seriously, so maybe having our bodies swapped could be a good thing."

Kaorin's heart broke because she fell in love with a false representation of someone. She overcame that, though, and decided that she would still want to be Sakaki's girlfriend even though she wasn't who she thought she was. Kaorin said, "I still want you as my girlfriend, Miss Sakaki! If you reject me, I'll never find love again!"

Kaorin's confession was when Sakaki realized that this girl had a crush on her. Somehow, she never picked up on that. Sakaki said, "I-I accept."

She felt that her relationship with Kaorin would mostly make Kaorin happy, but Sakaki saw no harm to herself.

Chiyo felt that it would be hard to keep the fact that they swapped bodies a secret, so she said, "Miss Sakaki, may I explain that we swapped bodies to everyone at school?"

Sakaki looked surprised, but nodded because she felt that it would be easier than hiding the truth.

At school, Chiyo and Sakaki made sure everyone knew that they had swapped bodies, they didn't know how or why, and that they didn't know to reverse it. People noticed the difference in personality each body had, so they accepted it.

But as they graduated from high school, both of them noticed that they were happier in the other one's body. Sakaki was petite like she always wanted to be, while Chiyo was taken seriously due to being tall. It also made the two closer because it was easier for them to explain what had happened when both of them were there.
