I realized it was morning, once the light had shone through the slightly open blinds. "Ugggghhhh..." I groaned. There was empty coffee cups on my desk and chip crumbs in my carpet. I rolled out of bed and stomped to the bathroom. I looked at the dark circles around my eyes and my tangled hair in the mirror. "Gosh, I need to take a shower." I turned on the water and stripped out of my pajamas. I got lost in my thoughts in the hot shower, I nearly spent fifteen minutes in there. Finally, I got out of the shower and I wrapped a towel around my body. Now, I had to figure out what to wear. This was always the hardest decision because what you wear on your first day really had an impact on your reputation. I decided to wear a hoodie that said "HARVARD" to make me look smart. Besides, it was comfy. I buttoned up my favorite pair of black denim shorts, as it was summertime in San Francisco. Finally, the shoes I wore almost everyday. I laced up my black converse and decided to put some light makeup on. Just a bit of mascara and blush is all I need. My family had moved from Florida all the way to California, basically across the country. So, it was my first day in a new school, and I hoped to make some new friends. I never did really have that many friends, only one or two. Let's just say i'm socially awkward.
I packed all my school supplies in my plain, black backpack. I could hear a faint "BREAKFAST IS READY!" from my room. I ran downstairs, as I was hungry although I snacked on chips throughout the night. "Are you ready for your first day of school honey?" my mom said as she slid me a plate of bacon and pancakes across the kitchen island. "Yeah.. i'm a bit nervous though." I replied "It's okay, I know how it feels." my mom told me. I ate my bacon and pancakes just how I like them, drenched in syrup. I guzzled down a glass of orange juice. I went to grab the cat food for my cat, Mittens. Then she ate her breakfast too. The time was 7:35 and I needed to get to school by 8:00.
The school was about 10 minutes away. I picked up my backpack and carefully packed lunch from my mom. "Thanks mom, I love you." I said. "I love you too! Have a great day." she said hugging me. I opened the door and went to get my bike out of the garage. I put in my airpods and played "Teenagers" by My Chemical Romance. (I like emo music)
I biked to Mission San Jose High School, one of the best schools in San Francisco. I scored high on my tests, so I got enrolled in a good school (thankfully). I swung open the doors to a brand new future.Authors Note
