The Empirial Mountains was notorious during the Gold Rush. The land was known for gold pockets far and wide but it was also known for one of the most notorious murders in America. It happened on a rainy night, in a small house buried in the mountains, inhabited by a mother and son. The mother worked as a prostitute to support her two-year old son. She took her clients to the cottage where they would have alone time after which she would be payed a handsome sum. One night it didn't go so well. Some say the guy got angry and tied her up while others say she ran and hid in the laundry room. Police reports say she was found in front of the washing machine, naked except for a tie around her neck. Her throat was bruised and the cause of death was found to be asphyxiation. The creepiest thing was they found a red ball by the front door, and the son has never been found to this day.
