Memoirs 4: I would be lying if I said I didn't miss my mother. I miss the way she use to talk to me, well when she found out that I was just like her. What I don't miss is how she put her plants before me. Or how she use to do painful expirements on me as a child, marking my arms with several little injection marks. That is a reason I have my sleeve tattoos, to hide those little scars. Plus they hid my self loathing marks, you see what my mother did haunted me as a teenager and made me feel like a 'freak'; being a hero and helping others helped me out of it.
Only thing I inherited from her was her looks and her ability to manipulate plants, though I didn't know where natural ended and the chemical enhancement began.
I didn't ever think in my 24 years of age I would have to face my mother again, let alone the fact she searched me out.

Chapter 3: White Lotus meets the Poison Ivy
*
*
*Laila ran a hand through the volumized lush ruby curls she was blessed with. Her eyes fell to her tattoo covered forearm hid certain parts of her past she didn't even like to relive in her worst nightmares.
She was getting ready head to the safety of her oriental and cherry oak inspired bedroom when a knock at 3 am in the fuckin' morning caught her attention and also alarmed her at the same time.
Laila knew it wasn't Dick or Bruce, because they normally called or text. It wasn't Cass, because she was in Hong Kong. It wasn't Alfred with groceries, because he had a key. Most likely it wasn't Barbra Gordon, cause that woman who was 4 years her senior, seem to hate Laila.
So who could it be? Laila ran through all the possibilities in her head, she knew it was something suspicious.
The knock got louder, and sharper making Laila panic a bit. The 24 year old heroin made a beeline for the largest knife in her stainless steel kitchen block. She hid the knife behind her as she made quick and quiet movements towards the door.
Her nerves were on edge as the knocks seem to be come more impatient as the tattooed a loud rhythm on her heavy metal door.
She knew she had to answer it as she peeked through the peephole and saw a person she never expected to see...ever. It was her fucking mother--fuckin Poison Ivy was at her fucking door, at fucking 3 am in the morning. Leave it to her mother to pick the witching hour of all times.
Begrudgingly she opened the door to the woman as she wanted to shoo her away, but part of her wanted to see "mommy dearest", the small little girl inside that craved mother's love.
"What do you want?" Laila said gruffly, in a tone that was Batman worthy. Bruce would be so proud!
Poison Ivy was taken aback by her daughter's tone, never had she thought meeting up with her again she would act like that. Clearly...that man had brain washed her little Delilah, against her.
Her poison green met the emerald colored one of her child's, she hadn't seen the girl since she was 5 years of age; almost 20 years ago. Clearly her daughter took after her in the looks department, she had inherited her figure and the same ruby red locks. But her daughter was more tone and muscular then she was curvy.
"Don't talk to me like that little girl, or should I say young woman," Ivy said as she smiled kindly at her little girl.
"Mind if I come in, I do hate being left out in the hallway, not very polite Delilah Iris Isley," her mother scolded. Causing Laila to look at her mother like she was mad.
Pamela watched her daughter take a deep breath as she scanned the empty hallway of her apartment building. She also noted that her daughter was trying to figure out how she got pass security.
"Posion kisses, don't worry the aren't fatal, little girl."
Laila sighed and shook her head. "Some things never change," she muttered.
Laila leaned against the door as she watched her mother saunter into her apartment. She couldn't believe she was doing this, she knew Bruce probably had this place bugged. If he didn't she knew the ex-Batgirl did.
Ivy listened to her daughter sigh and looked behind her as she saw her daughter had a rather large knife in her hand. That asshole had turned her human, making her want to kill others. Her mother pouted when she saw the knife.
"Were you planning to use that on me, my flowergirl?" Her mother asked, using her old pet name.
Laila chose to ignore Ivy as she made her way to the kitchen and placed the kitchen knife back into the block. Laila leaned against the stainless steel of her modern kitchen cabinets.
She watched Ivy observe her large modern and open loft-like apartment. The living room had a large screen tv with a plush maroon leather wrap around couch. Near the windows were her prized plants that she owned, an African Jade plant and her rubber Christmas tree also the pineapple plant that she managed to grow in Gotham of all places. She saw that this pleased her mother that she liked keeping plants alive.
Also in the kitchen, she had a window that had a small organic little herb garden growing.
"I see you also have an affinity for plants," her mother's velvet smooth tone came across. Laila knew she was up to something.
"Would you like some tea, it's blooming jasmine tea, it's organic," Laila said.
"Yes please, isn't this nice, Flowergirl, being able to have a mother-daughter chat, without me being in pesky Arkham and you well being brainwashed," Ivy said as she took a seat upon the leather couch. She folded crossed her shapely legs underneath one another.
Laila said nothing as she continued to busy herself with the task of making tea. If Bruce or Barbra could see the look on her face, it wasn't one of pleasure. She took a deep breath and pressed the remote for the hidden surround sound and classical violin music began to play. Once the tea kettle went off, she poured the hot water into the Japanese style teapot that she had and placed in on the tray. She then carried it to the living room, placing it on the small table between the wraparound and the little chair she had.
She saw Ivy smile at the choice of music she had.
"Good selection, I always liked classical," Ivy said as she poured herself some tea and let out an amused gasp as she watched the tea bloom.
"How delightful," she said in amusement.
Laila just sighed and poured herself a cup and took a small sip of it.
"So what do you want to talk about?" Laila asked, cutting straight through her mother's bullshit.
Her mother sipped her tea quietly before she opened those killer lips and spoke. Her mother had a deadly mouth, literally; but Laila was immune to it.
"Well, I wanted to see what you were up to Deliah," her mother said.
"Clearly as you can see, I am perfectly well. But if you want to know, I have been in China for the past two years, working as a teacher in a elementary teaching English," she said with half truths, but her mother didn't needed to know the real reason.
"That's nice, that you became a teacher. I thought that you would follow after me, do something more along the lines of botany," Pamela said, as she sipped the tea. Her daughter had good taste in picking organics, she wonder if she was completely vegan or if she ate me.
"Are you....you know?"
"Vegan?" Laila answered.
"Yes that, Vegan, such a strange word. I mean do you eat murdered animals just for meat?" Her mother asked as she eyed the couch she was sitting upon.
"Yes I am vegan, because my body can't handle a certain protein that meat seems to contain," she explained, "and the couch is pleather, not leather."
She watched Ivy nod at her daughter's taste in furniture. She knew she had rubbed off on her daughter, but she didn't know all of her tests made her daughter allergic to any animal products. She was secretly glad that part in the mutation in her chid's genetic code had worked.
"You didn't come here to catch up, Ivy what is your true reason?" She asked cutting her mother's pleasantries to the edge.
She pouted at her daughter's tone and decided there was time later for idle chit-chat. She needed to tell her why she was truly here for.
"I want you to join me, I know you have plant-based powers, some natural and other chemically enhanced. You and I together would rule Gotham, my dear girl," she said.
Laila frowned and looked down into her now lukewarm cup of tea. She knew her mother would try this and Batman had been concerned that she would join her mother. But Laila liked the lighter side and how her powers could be used for good and helping others. She didn't like causing harm to others, like her mother did. She was a white lotus, not a black one. She was pure, and not tainted. If she went with her mother she sure would be.
Ivy watched in amusement as she could see her daughter's brain going over each angle of it. Ivy knew her daughter would most likely side with good and not evil. She would have to respect her daughter's wishes, even if it would make them enemies.
"What is your choice, Delilah?" She asked.
"No," Laila said crisp and clear.
"No, you realize that means you are now my enemy, my dear?" Ivy questioned studying her daughter's eyes and she could tell that she was serious.
"I guess it does mother," Laila stated.
Then suddenly a gruff male voice ran over the sound system, halting her mother and her conversation.
"Lotus, do you need help?"
Laila sighed, she knew Bruce had fucking bugged her apartment, she knew it was for her security. He was extremely careful with his bat-daughters after what the Joker did to Barbra.
Ivy looked at Laila and then back to the speakers, the ones Batman had spoken through.
"I am fine Daddy Bats," she grumbled.
"Your apartment is bugged?" Ivy asked as she looked at her daughter.
"Yeah, I guess it is, look part of me still loves you. But I can't be like you, I love being a defender of Gotham more," Laila explained to her mother.
"You still love me?" Ivy asked, shocked.
"Hell yeah, you are after all, the woman who gave birth to me and no matter what." Laila stated as she showed her mother the door.
They exchanged a hug and her mother promised her that if they met they she wanted to see her powers. Laila begrudgingly agreed to it. She watched her mother leave and went to the task of doing dishes.
Her house phone rang while she was doing dishes, she checked the caller ID and knew it was Bruce. He was checking up on her.
"Hello?"
"Are you sure you are alright?" He asked.
She sighed and rolled her green eyes, she was touched by Bruce's concern for her.
"Yes Bruce, I am fine and all that jazz. I have enough hidden weaponry and plus I have my powers. I can handle myself," she explained.
"So, Dick tells me," he grumbled.
"Well now I know you are fine, you sure you don't need me to swing by?" Bruce asked as she clearly could hear the rumble of the Batmobile in the background. She knew he had suited up just for her safety.
"Yes, now go make Gotham safe, so I won't have to take care of it," she stated.
"Will do, Lotus," he said as he hung up the line.
Laila yawned as she placed her phone back onto the cradle and she let out a small little yawn and checked the clock. It was now 4 am, she needed to hit the hay.
She placed her now washed dishes upon the dish rack for them to dry. She then made a mad dash to her temperpedic mattress and dove into it. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she was out like a light. Hopefully she wouldn't have anymore interruptions.XXX
