"Y/n!" you could hear your father shout and the worried voice of your mother in the back but you didn't turn around. You were determined this time, tired too. Two years, two years since you had been locked up in your house, it felt to you like a prison. Don't misunderstand my words, your father was not at all a bad person, at least towards his family. He loved you a lot, same with your mom, you were a pretty normal family but times change and so do situations.
An accident took place four years ago and after that you don't even remember seeing any new faces. You were always kept in the house. The friends that you already had were required to first arrange an appointment to meet you. There were four guards outside your room alone. Don't even ask me about the whole house. Eventually, tired out by the hectic schedule of meeting you and the insane checking, they stopped visiting you. And so you were left all alone.
Of course it was not just this problem which led you to leave your home. These were the crucial years to build your career. Someday, you would need to go out of the safety of the walls of your house to work and do what you wanted to pursue. And your parents needed to understand this but they refused to. All they said was, "You can take over our business." Although you wanted to but not this way. Taking over your father's business of cloth manufacturing seemed like a tempting and easy way but you wanted to prove yourself to be worthy of becoming the next owner. You wanted to be the overtaker because you were worthy not because of being the rightful heir. And even when you become the owner, you would need to go out! And for that you first needed to adapt in the surroundings otherwise it would become overwhelming. And so you were here outside the main gate of your home. Yes, it was wrong to leave your home but people make mistakes when they are angry and hurt. And that's what you did.
You huffed a breath taking a last look at the huge mansion where you lived all these years. "See you later, I guess."
You pulled onto the straps of your loose bag running away from the unwanted surroundings of your home. Time to find another one. The night was cold and dry. The freezing wind made your uncovered face freeze, leaving specks of red as the coldness seeped in. The night lights flickered with the thunder due to the rainy season that was approaching. 'I need to find a shelter.'
You had a black mask covering your face and the black glasses made it almost impossible to look at your e/c eyes. You could hear distant voices of dogs barking followed by the scary silence of the empty night. Too busy examining the unfamiliar surroundings you didn't notice the bright signal that read, "Highway..." a sigh of relief escaped your mouth.
There were three officers, each supervising one booth.
'I can't go from here, father would've already alerted them of my arrival. They would catch me.'
You looked around to find any ways for escaping. From your peripheral vision, you looked at the drunken men who sat on the benches nearby.
'Voila!'
There eyes were bloodshot as they gave you a dirty stare. You casually rotated to the side giving them a display of your side pocket. Fear haunted their eyes as they spotted the metallic weapon tucked to the side of your waist. You looked at them again removing the shades and exposing your eyes. You signaled them to distract the officers who were sitting at the booth.
They fearfully nodded before noisily walking up to the officers who eyed the delinquents disgustfully. Dramatically one of them pushed the other trying to make a scene out of it. They all started fighting with each other. Throwing a fake punch here and there. Spotting the unwanted quarrel, the policemen ran to the cluster, prying them off of each other. You took the opportunity to sneak out of there as quietly as possible.
"Phew." a sigh of relief escaped your lips and you ran further.
"But what now?!" you grumbled under your breath, turning around occasionally to ensure no-one was following you. You sat on the side of road panting loudly. The dense night air prevented any air from entering your lungs making you cough loudly due to the burning sensation. Your heavy breaths echoed in the dark silence making you want to hide under a rock. It made you shiver and you started to regret the decision of running away but you shook those thoughts off and focused on earning a ride. But how.
