Just looking at him, you would have thought sans was fine with his brother being back, but inside, he was really worried. He had caught the looks Papyrus had been giving him when he was joking with G.
Paps had- No everyone but the flower and ghost had forgotten who Gaster was. And Sans had no idea what would happen if they remembered. Would their Souls shatter if they remembered someone who didn't exist?
Sans was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't even notice Gaster coming up behind him.
"Sans?" He said, tapping him on the shoulder. After spending some time in the theater, his body was becoming more solid. Now the black smoke faintly resembled a trenchcoat.
"Sans?!" He said, slightly louder, gaining his attention.
"Yeah G?" He answered, turning to him.
"Can we talk in private?"
"Where can we go to talk in private G?" He questioned, looking around.
"Does anyone here know Wingdings?" He asked, eyeing the people close to them.
"Only Paps, and he's...busy." he said, looking over at the food table to see Papyrus devouring the spaghetti.
"Then we can talk." He said, speaking in their first language.
"OK then, G, what do you need?" He sighed relenting.
"They don't know me." He said. It wasn't a question. Sans answered anyway.
"No, they forgot." He said softly. He never had anyone to talk to about this before. Even when he found out, he wasn't going to talk to a flower or a ghost about it.
"Why didn't you?" Gaster asked, a confused look on his face.
"Because I was there. And because of this." He answered, pulling a picture out of his pocket and showing it to Gaster.
It was a picture of the three brothers, all in different states of distress. It had a younger Gaster at the front, him being the one to take the picture. In the background you could see a shorter Papyrus chasing a younger Sans with an angry look on his face. Gasters face was slightly purple from laughter, as he watched the two run. In large letters on the top of the picture were the words "dont forget" in a messy scrawl.
"I remember that." Gaster said, a small, sad smile on his face, "we were both making puns and and Pap started getting angry so I stopped, but you kept going. It caused him to chase you 'round the kitchen for the next ten minutes. I haven't laughed that hardin a while." A small tear ran down from his eye socket, the memory overwhelming.
"I'm sorry." He whispered, turning to Sans.
"Don't be," he replied, "it wasn't your fault."
"But it was," he insisted, "I knew how dangerous it was but I still did it."
"I knew how dangerous it was too, but I still helped," Sans countered. "Nobody is to blame. It was an accident."
"Yeah," he said "your right. So, did you mist me?" He smirked.
"We were doing so well," Sans moaned, "we had a-void-ed the jokes until now."
"Guess we are back to our core selves." Gaster said, causing them both to chuckle.
"I don't know what you are doing," they heard Papyrus yell, "but I'm cringing from over here."
This caused them both to break down into laughter, clutching their stomach's.
"I missed this." Gaster said. Pulling Sans into a hug.
"Me too," Sans replied, "I mean, who else was i going to prank Papyrus with?"
Gaster laughed.
"Come on. Let's get some food, I'm pretty hungry."
"Hi, pretty hungry, I'm Sans."
"I thought dad joked were my thing."
"Someone had to take over while you were gone."
