10 HOURS BEFORE THE GAME.

Ji-yeong's P.O.V

I shuffled up to the front desk, waiting for the worker to hand me my belongings. i play with the drawstrings of my sweater, growing impatient. whats taking them so long. i finally look up to see the worker with a terrified expression on their face as they read my file. i role my eyes, how the fuck did they get access to that anyways? that has to be illegal in some way.

"well, miss. *ahem* Ji-yeong. h-heres your, uhm-" I cut them off by pulling the plastic box towards me and removing my belongings from it.

there wasn't much. a cookie, that I'm sure is expired, my iPod, earbuds and 400 won. I noticed my lighter was missing, but that wasn't surprising. I'm sure they were quick to take that away from me after violating my privacy. I roll my eyes at the thought and shove the money and probably expired cookie in my pocket, and make my way to the buildings exit.

I untangle my earbuds, put them in and plug them into my iPod. I skim through my playlist for a bit, before settling on bonnie & clyde by DEAN. I let out a sigh as the music begins to play. I havent been this relaxed in a while. I decide to stroll around the block for a little while. I really don't have anywhere to go, so I might as well.

I look up at the streetlights and smile. they really aren't anything special, but after my time cooped up in that building, I've learned to appreciate the small things. or at least acknowledge them.I begin to feel bored of walking around the same few blocks, and decide to settle down on a park bench.

by now the song is well over, and dayfly starts. well shit, now reality's hitting. I have no where to go. no one to go home to. My hand reaches into my pocket for my iPod to switch the song to something a bit more hype. but freezes when I feel a presence behind me.

I quickly jump up from my the bench and turn around to see a man with a briefcase in a grey suit. i squint in confusion, releasing some of the tension that had built up. who is this man, and why was he watching over me like he was my guardian fucking angel?

"what do you want..?" I ask, a lot less tense the before, but still not letting my guard down.

"don't worry ma'am, I'm not going to hurt you." The man says.

"sure you won't!" I say sarcastically while rolling my eyes

bet the second i walk up he's going to blitz me with that bag of his. not gonna happen. I applaud his efforts though. I turn swiftly and start to walk away until I hear the clicking of the mans briefcase. I swear on my mo- well.. I swear on that expired cookie in my pocket if I get shot in the fucking back i'm haunting this man for life. To my surprise, though, I turn around to see two beanbag type squares, one red and one blue, and a fuckton of money.

"would you like to play a game with me?" The man asks, propping up the briefcase so I can properly see its contents.

now i'm intrigued. it's not because I need the money or anything, not that i'd find a good use. It's because this could be a nice distraction from the reality that will inevitably reach me I know, but better late than never. although it seems never wouldn't hurt.

"yeah, why not" I shrug, finally making my way towards the man while stuffing my earbuds and iPod back into my free pocket.

He smiles at me, before removing one of each colored square and placed the briefcase on the park bench. To me this seems like a dumb move, but it's not like I know anything about managing money. I stand with my hands in my pockets, waiting for him to explain the game.

"ma'am, have you ever played ddakji before?" he asks, holding up the two sqaures.

i think for a little while, before nodding. the game i always got my ass handed to in school. fucking ddakji.

"play a few rounds of ddakji with me, and each time you win, i'll pay you 100,000 won." he says with a smile.

I choke on my spit. there is no way this guy is serious. i mean sure, he was the money there, but would he really give it away so easily? now i'm really intrigued. I stay silent and wait for him to further explain, because there must be a catch.

"and if i can flip yours, you will give me the exact same amount of money." he says, the smale smile never leaving his face.

and there it is. the catch. i know there is no way in hell i can pay this man on my own, but maybe if i flip his over before he can mine, i can pay him with that. that is if i can even flip it.

"you can also be the first to play." he says, leaning in.

I lean back a bit. well this definitely makes it easier. I also have nothing to loose. why not?

"alright, lets play." i say, before snatching the blue square out of his hand.

he lets out a small chuckle before dropping the red square onto the ground.
