CAROLINE

I was doing my homework when I heard a car's engine outside. I quickly fix my things and ran towards the entrance. And then I saw him.

"Kuya!" I exclaimed and then hug him tightly. I heard him chuckle. And because of that, I let go of the embrace while pouting which makes him laugh this time. I hate it when he teases me.

"Bunso, you're so cute" then he pinches my cheeks.

"Ha ha ha you're so funny, Kuya" I said sarcastically "There isn't even a funny thing with what I said" and he just responded with a laugh. He's crazy!

"But it was really nice seeing you again, Kuya. You have been gone for..." I mentally counted the years he did not visited the house because he decide to live alone.

"2, 2 years," he said.

Oh, it has been 2 years already? I didn't notice that ahh. Maybe I was that focused on my study.

"So...how have you been, Kuya? You're taking care of yourself, right?" I worriedly ask. He's study-oriented and devoted to his picked course. And even before, I was always the one reminding him about his health. Because my gosh! He is so heavily study-er that he doesn't notice the time.

"Ahm..."

This is what I'm talking about! He's not taking care of himself again! I pout again and I bet he sees it because I can hear him chuckle.

"Kuya, it isn't funny" and this time he didn't suppress his laugh.

"I'm fine bunso, okay? I also rest in my free time but most of it I still review. You know...psychology is hard. So I can say...I rest when I have time and when I feel like to. Don't worry about me, okay?" he said.

I don't know if I should trust his words. And maybe he saw the hesitation in my face because, for the nth time, he laughs.

"Seriously kuya, why you keep on laughing?"

"It's just..." he laughs. "You're face is hilarious" and then he laugh...again

Seriously? Tsk whatever. I sigh. "I'm just gonna do my assignment, Kuya. You're just laughing at me as if I said or did something funny hmpp" and honestly, there wasn't!

I walk to my room and even if I don't look, I know he's following me. The first reason is I can hear his footsteps. And the second, he always does that, even before. I mean no, he stays in my room as if he doesn't have his room! That's why Mom thinks it's good that we just share rooms.

Ever since we were kids, we've been inseparable, from our house to school. But that's normal because we are siblings, right? And that is okay for me but not also my room?!

And because of that, I become so dependent on him - when I'm bullied he stands up for me, school work. I mean like everything.

I went straight to my bed where my laptop, phone, and school papers were. I did my work and as usual, he helps me. And even when he's away from home, I ask for his help over the phone. He likes spoiling me a lot. I don't know if I was able to finish high school without his help.

"Thanks, Kuya," I said to him and smiled. "I owe you a lot" then I hug him tight.

"You're always welcome" still hugging me

"Promise, someday I'll make it up to you, right now?" I put distance between us to look at him. "I'll try to help you if I can"

He put some strands of my hair behind my ears before he nods.

"Caroline! Clifford! Dinner!" I hear my father screams

"Coming!" I sighed and look at kuya. Then we both stood up and went straight to the dining area to have our dinner.

This is almost like our tradition, we are just not allowed to eat on our own. As soon as I'm done eating, I leave and then continue my unfinished work because I still have a lot of school works to do. But I just wish I stayed and set aside my unfinished works because what happened next changed my life for good...
