And yet, here the four of them were.

Sitting on a bench, watching everyone else play football when they can't, three injured, one kicked off the team for getting suspended.

The one with the broken tibia, pissed at the one getting caught vaping for two days in a row, pissed because they told them that day to stop, pissed becuase they cant play anymore because of that dumb decison, pissed because the other knew they were right.

The on with a broken collarbone, crying, crying because they were vaping with the other in the bathroom, crying because the other had their back and took the blame, crying because they could have been in trouble, crying because their going through too much and the one person who can make them smile, might not be there anymore, but they might not be there anymore either.

The one with the broken tibia, pissed at the one with the broken collar bone because they said they stopped, pissed because they said things got hard and they went back to vaping, pissed because they lied.

The one with a concussion, upset, upset because the two vaping are their best friends, their best friends lied, at least one of them did, upset because they thought they were getting better, not worse, upset because they feel like they failed at being there for them.

The one with the vapes, embarrassed, disappointed, upset, all because they failed, they fucked up, they won't be there anymore, they lied, they hit, they fought, yet they didn't get better, they failed.

Their embarrassed, disappointed, upset, but mainly confused, because they all stuck around, they stayed.

Because they all have fucked up lives and only one of them hasn't hit vapes, done drugs just once, which leads all of them to be confused as of why the one with the concussion stuck around, but the one with the broken tibia knows what they sees, what their dad does, knows that they've learned from their dad.

So they all sit at this bench, spilling secrets watching football, getting yelled at, having emotions flying everywhere, but yet, they still sat that bench and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
