Matthew & Jin
Under the Greenlight

A game of marbles

The raven haired male walked around the white lit up room with his hands inside the pockets of his turquoise sweat pants, Jin clicked his tongue in annoyance and leaned against a wall while looking up. As he was about to continue to look for a partner, someone tapped him from behind.

Jin turned around to see a familiar brunette with green emerald eyes and glasses, "Matthew?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Matthew's expression remained unchanged as he brought out a hand, "Be my partner." He answered the other male. Jin looked down at Matthew's hand and back up at his deadpanned expression, "Why?" He asked. "Why should I partner up with you?" Jin continued to stare at Matthew, waiting for an answer.

Matthew released a small exhale, "This might be our last time that we see each other, and I want to cherish this moment with you." He answered, Jin's cheeks burnt up; he ran his hand through his raven locks and chuckled sarcastically, "You sure are good with words, part timer, but we don't even know what game we're playing yet." Jin smirked, however it quickly dropped when Matthew grabbed onto his hand. "I'll make sure you win." He suddenly said. Jin tightened his grip and made eye contact with Matthew's green orbs.

"Alright."

The timer on the wall went up and the triangle guards escorted all the players into the designated game room, the large room was constructed into a small neighbourhood, the lighting depicted the orange sun setting. Matthew and Jin walked side by side not uttering a single word to each other, "What are you gonna do when you get out of here?" Matthew asked, breaking the silence between them. Jin looked down at his feet and gripped onto the singular cigarette he had in his pocket.

"Well, I'd maybe use some of the money for my construction project that I'm working on, or maybe give some to the annoying hag."

Matthew hummed in response, "What about you?" Jin asked back. Matthew remained silent for a moment, "I don't know..." He replied. Jin furrowed his eyebrows and brushed a finger against Matthew's cheek, "Like I said last time, you're living a difficult life, maybe use the money to support yourself." Matthew gently touched the other male's hand and sighed into it.

The red guard in front of them stopped and turned around, they then brought out both their hands to reveal two small pouches. The two males grabbed one each as the female voice on the speakers began to speak once again.

"You are now instructed to play with the marbles given to you. You have 30 minutes to beat the opposing player against you, the winner will pass and play the next game."

Jin clamped his eyes shut after hearing the rules, One of us will die. He thought to himself, Matthew didn't seem to be phased by the instructions given to them, the two sat down on a nearby stair way and remained silent for a moment once again. The brunette then placed a hand on Jin's thigh, "How about we just bet all of our marbles at the last few minutes of the timer." Matthew suggested.

Jin thought about it for a moment and nodded, "Fine by me."

Matthew began to fidget with the bag in his hands, "We can just talk to each other until then."

"So... Why did you come here?" Jin asked the male next to him, Matthew pushed his glasses back up onto his nose and continued to play with the strings on the bag, "I can no longer support myself, so my only option is being here." Matthew stared at Jin and moved closer to him, making the other male look back at him in confusion, "What about you?" Jin scoffed and smirked playfully, "The nasty old hag gave me the card, I think this is her way of punishing me." He laughed.
