It was early in the morning, but lucky for Asriel, he was an early riser. So, he stood up, walked to the window, and immediately opened it.
"Asriel!" Kris complained, as the bright light woke him up. "Some of us are trying to sleep here!"
"Well you can't sleep all day!" Asriel chided his younger brother. "C'mon. Let's go wake up mom. I'm starving!"
Kris pulled his blanket over his head and mumbled something about giving him five more minutes. Asriel rolled his eyes. "I think there's still some chocolate milk in the fridge."
Kris instantly pushed the blanket off and ran out of the room. That always worked. Then, Asriel woke up his parents, and headed downstairs just in time to see his brother throwing everything out of the fridge.
"Kris! What are you doing?!"
Kris turned to face Asriel, his red eyes showing. "Asriel, where's the chocolate milk?" Why did that sound like a threat?
"Kris, Kris, calm down!"
Kris had a creepy smile, and slowly turned towards Asriel. Asriel thought he might as well be holding a knife with how creepy of an expression he made. This was a completely normal reaction, however, because Asriel completely lied to him about the chocolate milk. There never was any. However, Asriel came prepared.
"Kris- Kris, breathe. I need you to close your eyes and hold out your hand."
Kris was a bit worked up, but he knew where this was going. So, he closed his eyes, breathed deeply, and held out his hands. Asriel made sure his eyes were closed, then went into the latest chocolate hiding spot, and pulled out a Hershey's kiss. He put it in Kris's hand.
Kris opened his eyes, and happily ate the Hershey's kiss, completely forgetting about the chocolate milk lie. Kris smiled, and innocently said "Thank you Asriel," as if Asriel really had a choice in the matter.
Asriel smiled. This was his daily routine, and he wouldn't trade it for anything. "Let's go play a game until breakfast, okay Kris?"
Kris nodded, and the two boys went upstairs back to their room. "What do you want to play?" Asriel asked.
"Super Smashing Brothers."
So, Asriel and Kris played Super Smashing Brothers until breakfast. Then they had breakfast with their whole family. Of course, this included Asgore, because there's no reason why he WOULDN'T be getting along with Toriel, right?
After breakfast, the family of four got dressed and ready to go to church. It was a Sunday, after all. Asriel made it a point to secretly put several Hershey's kisses in one of his pockets, because really, you'll never know when you'll need them around Kris.
When they were ready, Toriel said, "It's a beautiful day outside, is it not? Perhaps we should walk to church today?"
"That sounds like great idea, Tori. Everyone could use some fresh air."
Asriel smiled, but he knew the real reason. This would be the last time they'd be going to church together like this.
It truly was a beautiful day outside. The hot summer breeze blew, gently tossing Asriel's ears. He couldn't help but wonder, would the breeze still feel like this in the city? After all, tomorrow he was going to board the plane he was going to take to go to college, and then, would anything really be the same after that? It felt like once he went off to college, he'd never have the freedom of a child again. He wondered if he would even have time to notice things like the breeze when he was "an adult". The thought of that made his stomach hurt...
