It was a sunny Monday morning, back in the same classroom I'd been going to for a week now. I sat in the back, right next to the window. I preferred this seat, as nobody bothered me.

"Ayanokouji!"

Well, except for one girl.

Horikita Suzune, the girl currently yelling at me, was my one and only "friend". The reason I put quotation marks over that is because it's more like a mutual agreement to help each other out, except she's the one getting all the help.

In ANHS, there's this thing named "Class Points", and it's basically currency for our school. Kind of like the mini tickets they gave you in elementary to get rewards. However, in this school it's used for food, house improvements, etc.

Horikita and I were placed into the lowest class, where the dumbest people go, according to Horikita. My grades weren't THAT bad, but it's better than getting rejected.

So since we're the lowest class, we have the least. What Horikita wants me to do is help her get us more class points, so we can rise up the rankings. I was originally opposed to the idea, but 2 days later she took a picture and used it as blackmail. The contents of that picture shall stay unknown.

Anyways, back to the situation at hand. Horikita didn't seem as peeved as she usually was, which was great.

"Morning," I responded, giving her a tiny wave. "You're happier than usual today. What's the occasion?"

"You know Matsushita? The popular girl? I struck up a conversation with her, and got her to hang out with me this evening." Horikita said as she sat down beside me.

"You making friends? I barely believe it." That remark earned me a chop to the side.

"Just kidding," I said, yielding to her punishment once again. "Congrats on the new friend."

"Oh, I don't care about friendship. I need her to tell me all the dirt on the other classes. She's got the most networking after all," I sighed. Horikita was only focused on school, and nothing else. It was concerning at times. "Oh yeah I forgot, you're coming too."

My eyes widened. "What?"

"You're coming with me to hang out with her. Matsushita's gonna bring a friend from Class B, I think her name is Ichinose if I'm not wrong." Horikita stated, opening her bag. She grabbed a notebook, and started scribbling on it. She ripped out the piece of paper and handed it to me.

"Show up. I'm not going alone." Horikita then walked to her actual seat near the middle.

The paper read:

MonMon's Bubble Tea

Directly after school at 4:30 PM

Be there, or face my wrath.

I felt a shiver go down my spine as I imagined all of the ways she'd torture me. I'd better show up.

However...this "hang out" will not be fun for people like me who have social anxiety. Especially with two of the most popular girls in the school.

Ichinose is the angel of this year, her strawberry-blonde hair, blue eyes, and bubbly personality attracting both girls and boys. Her body...is something I'd rather not talk about. Makes me feel like a creep.

Matsushita goes to my class, and is the center of attention for her fashion sense along with her intelligence. She's also cute, at least in my opinion. Matsushita's got chestnut-colored hair, and dark blue eyes.

The mere fact that they're that popular makes it a lot worse. Both of them have a devoted following, and even a website that updates people on what they're doing on an hourly basis. From what I've seen in the few animes I've watched, that is NOT going to end well.

Alas, I have to go. Horikita can't survive on her own, and would actually kill me if I didn't attend.

So as the last few people walked in and the teacher began her lesson, I began drifting off.

TIMESKIP

I opened my eyes to an empty classroom and an idol Horikita. Was it lunch time already? I didn't think I was that much of a deep sleeper. As my eyes slowly drifted up, I saw Horikita looking down at me, stroking my hair.

"Uh, what are you doing?" I asked out loud, causing her to jump in surprise.

"Oh, um...just getting some stuff out your hair. Somebody put some weird food in it." she said, shaking her hands. To my surprise, a couple of crumbs came out of them.

"Thanks, I guess? What period are we in?" I asked, getting up and stretching.

"Lunch. You've got thirty minutes left, so you wanna hurry." Horikita said, opening her bento box.

"Alright then. See you later." I said, making my departure.

I entered the hallways, trying to get past the large crowd. As I maneuvered my way through, I heard various excited whispers. Don't tell me it's...

I had finally arrived at the cafeteria, and my worst fears had been confirmed. Ichinose and Mastushita were there, happily talking away. Everyone stared at them with curious eyes, wanting to know everything about them.

If you don't understand why this is a hindrance already, I'll go ahead and explain. If Ichinose and Matsushita both are sitting in the cafeteria, that means a crowd will gather around them. When that happens, I can't get to the lunch line.

So now, I've got to awkwardly move through around 50 people just to eat some food. See how bad it is here?

I sighed quietly as I got closer to the end of the crowd. Eventually, I slowly pulled myself out, now free to get the lunch I had fought so hard for.

I got a burger and fries, along with a small cup of soda. Not the most healthy thing ever, but I didn't mind. I've got a fast metabolism anyways.

As I began eating, I felt some eyes burning holes into my back. I slowly turned around to see both Matsuhita and Ichinose staring at me, probably wondering why I'm not in the crowd. A sigh of relief comes out of my mouth, and I begin eating again.

"Yo," two voices exclaimed. I watched as two plates plopped onto the table, with two eerily familiar girls sitting in the seats next to me.

"We noticed you were a bit lonely here. You need someone to talk to?" Matsushita asked.

"Uh...sure?" I said, unsure of how to respond.

Is this really happening right now?
