This chapter is in third person but for our main lovely girl: Leihana, this is explains her background before she meets our boy Matt.
...

Her father came home with a headache and small cough making her a little curious.

She closed her book to ask, "Are you alright father?" She asked with one eyebrow raised and tilted her head slightly. "Quite al- *cough cough* a-alright"

He said going to his room while of the hand maids followed him with some tea. Her father was a fair noble their weren't very rich but they could afford two maids and a decent house. The only they weren't super rich was that the land that her father ruled was mostly populated by hybrids including her and her father they were leopard gecko hybrids her father looked like a regular tremper with blond cropped hair, yellowish- brown speckled tail and yellow scales but Leihana looked like her mother as a albino tremper leopard gecko even her hair was a soft pink that was almost white.

She was a little worried about him since he didn't sound alright he was always fragile sinus wise but she knows he always bounces back something like this so....far he was getting older.

She shook the feeling off knowing that if she worried to much it wouldn't help so she decided to help the other maid in the kitchen since she had nothing better to do....

*time skip for about a week brought to you by Matthew's insomnia*

Leihana's father wasn't getting better in fact he was getting so worse that even some doctors told Leihana that it was his death bed. Meaning a new noble for the had to be picked since women couldn't become nobles. Leihana cried lots of tears and was always with her father.

"Leihana, you cannot stay at my side forever. Please I need you to go to the capital and tell the high king what is happening here these people cannot do it. They are all melancholy about me and I trust you the most. You are strong and beautiful the only child I have your are my life, so if I die before you come back know that I want you to live a full and happy life and don't think about me move away from here and start a new adventure do you understand?" Her father asked weakly his was pale and his scales on his cheek were fading into a gray color. The room smelt of death and a stirring sickness.

"Y-you want me to leave right now? Don't be an idiot, dad. Your dying...and I can't help you" She looked down at the ground with warm tears falling from her face.

"You have to do this wether you like it or not it is the last thing I will ever tell you to do" He said closing his eyes meaning he was done talking and there was room for discussion.

This irritated Leihana badly. She got up and stormed out of his room. She was having a rush of mixed emotions about this as tears fell from her red eyes. She lost her mother a few years ago since she was weak and she was losing her father. No, she wasn't giving up hope yet not on her dad. One of the only people who believed in her and respected her choices. After letting her emotions out in the hallway and getting a few awkward and pity glances from the handmaidens. She got up to her room and began packing for the ride since she was most likely going to have to stay in a Inn once she got to the capital while talking things over with their very young king.

All she knew about him is that he wasn't very social and made very few public appearances but the kingdom was ruled...justified. Hybrids like herself were always considered lowlifes. No one liked hybrids and hybrids didn't like regular humans each others existences just irritated them but it wasn't like that in some Kingdoms like in the Kingdom of Amaryllis whose kings were a mischievous coyote hybrid and the other was a genius albatross hybrid who welcomed everyone with no prejudices. The king of Azalea, Matthew, was trying to break the normals but rich nobles and commoners of his land made this quite difficult. Their kingdom is know for its hard workers and skillful artists and most were jacks-of-all-trades kind of people.

Leihana had nothing against the king but she was nervous and embarrassed to be doing this since women were often looked down upon but King Matthew also tried making it easier for women to do things they weren't allowed to do before but alas the snobby nobles had a firm a grip of their territories. "Mistress the carriage is outside waiting for you he able to take all the way to the capital." A young and sweet voice said from outside. "Ah...thank you Cree. Please take the utmost care of the old lizard for me since I don't know when I should be back." The maid nodded quickly she was a normal human. She was always smiling and cheerful and knew how to change someone's quickly.

Leihana grab her bag full of her necessities and walked outside to a old man who looked to be a penguin hybrid. "Ah need help with that?" The man pointed to her bag. "If it's not to much work for you then please?" She said politely since she didn't want to be a pain for the old guy. "Of course, please call me Crash it's what everyone know me by" He said sounding like he didn't care much while grabbing the bag from her and put away out of the way for them both. The horses snorted impatiently while their tails swished softly eager to move. "Alright then, Crash you may call me Lei." He nodded he seemed to be old and boring but this interested Leihana even more. (I based Crash on someone I know personally so it's okay to bully them :) )

Leihana got in the carriage and stared at the interior. It seemed to be worn but not filthy. Surprisingly Crash took great care of it even though didn't seem like the typed to. Leihana was curious it was just her nature. "So Crash how old are you? Are you penguin hybrid? I don't see a ring on your finger meaning your old AND singly correct ?" She said bluntly . "I'm (not giving you a real number I always say their 908 so go with that) And yes I am a penguin hybrid and yes I am old and single." He said with a light chuckle. "Wow with that attitude I wonder why your not with someone" Leihana rolled her eyes. "Haha! No I had a girlfriend she was a freckled redhead and a cute teacher but it didn't work out." He said smiling. "You have bad taste in women" Leihana said absent minded. "Hey kid don't judge me! You remind me of some other young fox I know" He laughed enjoying the energy she had. "Sorry sorry!" She said lightly.

The entire ride they made small talk and Leihana poked at the old man and made fun of him while he enjoyed her humor it was all light hearted and fun but the ride ended soon and they said goodbye to each most likely never to see each other again. She walked into the castle seeing a tired, bored, scrawny, man sitting on the throne with a sad smile on his face while looking at a portrait of him and some deer hybrid. "Oh? Who are you..." He said softly looking away from the portrait to study Leihana. "King Matthew I am Leihana daughter of Eli Baron the noble of pale barrow territory and I have come to inform you that..."
