He felt pain. Energy surged through his body, creating the sensation that his skin was ripping apart from the inside out. His bones felt like they were breaking and snapping, his insides felt like they’d been reduced to mush. His head was pounding, he heard the sound of ripping and sickening cracking as he stumbled onto the balcony of the pyramid. He screamed, curling into himself as he fell to the ground and landed with a heavy thud.Skidding to a halt at the entrance to the pyramid, panic rising at the sight of the puddle of blood and bits of flesh on the ground. "Kiaba!!?" Ashara shouted out in a panic, the scream his boyfriend had let out before falling in his vision still echoing through his mind. Pushing himself off the ground and into the air he whips around rapidly, searching for any signs of the cat-hybrid. His attention is quickly pulled to the crackle of lightning to the side of the pyramid.
A small spark of hope spurs Ashara to shoot himself over to the sound, freezing at the sight waiting for him at the side of the pyramid. A large, feline beast was pacing back and forth in clear distress. It was roughly thirty feet tall, its fur was black. Vibrant shades of blue and green were faded into the fur on the underbelly, face, tips of the ears, legs, and the end of its tail with a lightning-like pattern spreading out from the vibrant patches of fur. It stopped when he did, turning to and locking eyes with him. Its eyes were the same as Kiaba’s. They were deep black with bright brilliant yellow irises.
Both Ashara and the beast froze in place, gazes locked. Ashara opened his mouth and began to speak “Ki-” only for the beast to lunge at him, launching itself into the air. Ashar found himself being pulled to the ground as large paws gripped onto him. He landed softly, much to his surprise, as the large cat released him with its paws and caught the front of his clothing with its front teeth. Operating as if handling a butterfly, infinitely gentle and careful, the large cat-like beast set him down and pressed its large head against him. “...Kiaba?” The whisper was softly mumbled as Ashara brought his hands up to pet the large cat. The cat rumbled deep in its chest and nodded, nuzzling deeper against Ashara.
"How?-'' Ashara rubbed Kiaba's head, looking over the large cat in awe. The cat rumbled, almost in an 'I don't know why.
"Can you change back?" Ashara asked as he lowered himself to his knees, bringing Kiaba's large head into his lap as he does. The large beast shrugs and rumbles before he nudges Ashara gently with his head and mews. "Do you-...want to go anywhere other than here?" There’s a beat of silence before Kiaba nods and gets up, Ashara following as he moves to the garden at the other side of the pyramid. Kiaba seems to spend a few moments picking a spot before going over to it and laying down, looking over at the other to join him.
The red-head flies over and sits at the spot where the Kiaba's paws were pressed together. The large beast tilts his head at the other who reaches out and rubs at the top of the muzzle of the cat beast. Kiaba freezes, pupils, going wide before he purrs and presses his muzzle further against Ashara, letting out a mew and a purr that rumbled deep in the cat's chest. Ashara lets out a soft laugh and rubs the cat's head, amusement mixing with a lightly teasing tone in his voice as he spoke "awww."
The cat grumbles, the brighter colors on its body pulse with light, his ears turn back and tilt downwards slightly. He almost seemed flustered. Another laugh is drawn out of the redhead who presses his face against Kaiba's. They slip into position silently, Kiaba curled up and asleep around Ashara as he pets the large cat's head. Eventually, the redhead finds himself zoning out, becoming dead to the world as his hand moves subconsciously to continue petting the large cat he's resting on.
Ashara only zones back in when his resting spot is suddenly gone and a bright light fills his vision. He falls back onto the ground with a grunt and turns to look at what had happened, only to find his normal-sized cat in place of the large one that had been there before. A breath of relief left the reincarnation and he turned to gently pick up the sleeping prince, flying up and into the other's room with him. He sets himself on the bed before gently laying the Pharaoh down on top of him. Tangling a hand into his hair and placing his other hand on Kiaba's back Ashara, purposely this time, zones back out again.
