Raven tumbled through the never-ending bush and roots that covered the Earth around her feet, she felt her legs about to give way as the rush of the chase set in, her breath coming out in low pants as she placed her bleeding hands on her forehead trying to cease the throbbing of her head, she hadn't even realised her palms had been scathed through the worries of being caught by the darkness that had chased her endlessly through the woods, it was only now that she finally decided to rest, even though she knew lowering her guard would likely get her finally caught. As she sat on the soft earth she couldn't help but admire her surroundings, the large dark trunks that seemed to tower over her almost covering the dark night sky but not quite as at the very top she could spot what little light broke through telling her that tonight the moon was in full shine, without even realising it she had let herself get distracted once again, she had seen the scene before many times and yet with every passing night that she came back it felt as if she was just beginning to explore, as if it were the first time she had seen the area even though inside she very well knew it was not.
Raven stood in the shadows of one of the many large oaks that covered the woods, she waited for the darkness to find her and the chase once again be set off, same as every other night, same as every other night... same as every other night... why was it the same as every other night? What was going on? It couldn't just be the same nightmare over and over...As she stood in the shadows of the forest more questions began bubbling inside her as she became aware of what was really going on, the sudden realisation causing her to gasp out into the cold night air, why had it taken her so long to realise it? Why had she not become aware sooner, was she really that weak? Was she so tired and distracted that she hadn't even noticed what her father was doing to her, he was sucking the life force out her night by night and she didn't even notice, he was weakening her, making him stronger as the nights passed on. This was not good, not good at all, he's inching ever closer to escaping and at the same time learning her weaknesses and right now he could be exploiting them, coming up with a well devised plan that likely includes using her loved ones against her, and she knew she would never let that happen, she would keep this burden to herself, the others didn't need to need more of her burdens weighing them down.. she was alone for this.
"ErGhHHAHhh" Raven spun on her heels, turning to face the monstrosity that awaited her (other than her life of course *cough*), she swallowed hard as loud thumping footsteps could be heard only a few feet away from her, as they got closer they got faster and faster and faster until the darkness was only a few feet from her "Come out and get me" She screamed into the dark haziness her hands curling into fists at her sides as she felt a low growl form at the back of her throat, she wasn't going to let this monster or her father control her, without hesitation she ran forward screaming at the top of her lungs, she was so close to the darkness she could imagine herself deep within it, trapped and lost, confused of where she went wrong.
"Raven.." She stopped in her tracks, an inch away from the darkness' edge, was it calling to her..? "Raven!" This time the voice was more desperate, she waited a few more moments for the voice to call again, letting her eyes rest as if to answer to the voice.
Her eyelids slowly opened, batting her eyelashes to sync her fast then slowing heart beat, it took a few seconds for her surroundings to sink in but once they did she realised that she was no longer in the dark woods, even then the dream felt like a distant memory, forgotten within the first few minutes of her waking, "Raven.." the voice sighed in relief as Damian noticed her beginning to stir in his arms, her head turning to face his and when she did their faces were only inches away, he could make out every crease, every dip and every detail of her face, her soft lilac eyes, large grey bags that now sat under them signing that she was getting very little sleep, Damian was worried for her, he had asked her multiple times if she needed help and yet every time was the same answer "I'm fine Damian" then she would smile that tiny smile of hers, trying not only to reassure him but herself that she was fine even though everything was completely not fine, she hated herself for it, for lying to him, for bringing them into any of her problems, they didn't need or deserve to be burdened along with her, it was wrong.
Damian stared at her without a care in the world, he was truly worried for her and he wanted to protect her but he couldn't if she wouldn't tell him what was going on "Raven, I know somethings wrong... you got to... you got to tell me, I hate seeing you like this" He pulled his hand through his hair sighing as he looked down at her, she was still sweating and she could see the fear in her eyes.. what was she so afraid of..? If anyone knew Raven the best it had to be him, he knew all her fears but this was something else entirely, it woke him up at night as he listened to her whimpers as tears streamed down her face, he would try to wake her up, try to make the pain she was feeling all go away when she saw him, all he wanted to do was craddle her in his arms while telling her everything was going to be okay, even if it wasn't, he would still try to comfort her any way possible and thats exactly what he wanted to do at this very moment, her tiny petite body carefully put into his arms as a way of comfort, he felt she would break any moment and he wanted to make sure she never broke, because he would keep her safe and he wanted her to know that.
