When you give your dog a bath you want to make sure you use shampoo and conditioner to clean and soothe there skin. Most vets and groomers also stores recommend Burnts Bees products. You want to use your nails to scrub there skin to get all the loose hair off, but don't scrub to hard or you will make there skin irritated.
