Personally, Princess Diana is one of my favourite icons ever since I first heard about her. Not only was this girl a kindergarten teacher who suddenly became the eye of every single camera, magazine and radio station, but the living proof that just one lovely gesture can save thousands of lives.

After watching the fourth season of "The Crown" followed by an impeccable acting delivered by Emma Corrin, I decided it was time to read the biography Diana herself gave interviews about in order to help Morton write it. And it was a sad but thrilling read.

Lady Di was only nineteen years old when prince Charles proposed to her, twenty when they got marry and she finally understood that royal life was not the fairytale they had sold her. Trapped in a loveless marriage with full knowledge of her husband's constant infidelity, a family in which she didn't felt comfortable or accepted and self-esteem issues that threw her onto an eating disorder, she showed us true strength and how helping others became the most important mission in her life.

Knowing this full details about her life, especially how an unhappy childhood in which her parent's divorce took a tool on her later on, helped me in getting a new perspective about this incredible woman who was much more than a beautiful girl

Knowing this full details about her life, especially how an unhappy childhood in which her parent's divorce took a tool on her later on, helped me in getting a new perspective about this incredible woman who was much more than a beautiful girl. Diana had always wanted to find love and solace, something she only got to enjoy in tiny bits while being a Princess, and discover later on that she could give this exact same things to the people around her.

It's important to realize how she took her privilege position in life and used it in order to make the whole world realize about terrible issues many others were constantly facing. She not only prepared her sons, the boys who helped her and made her smile daily, to confront and help the people in need, but she also made everyone question whether the monarchy should change the values in which they stood: Stoic and cold to everyone around them.

Diana had a sad life through and through: Unloved as a child and mostly getting toys when all she wanted was her parent's love; unloved as a wife by a husband who made no attempt to hide how he was dying to be with his one true love, Camilla Parker-Bowles; chased by the press, who were desperate to photograph even the slightest thing she did; death at such a young age, with a bright future ahead of her and happiness finally at her door.

It was, undoubtedly, an experience so close to my heart that I didn't feel as if I had read simple biography but actually had meet this beautiful soul, whose legacy can be summary in one beautiful quote.

"For as long as there are poets, playwrights and men with hearts to break, tales will be told of the princess who died across the water and returned home to be crowned a queen, the queen of all our hearts

Highly recommend it.
