The Secret is Out!

Welcome to WritersConnX, or as we like to say WritersConnect, and it makes sense because that's what we like to do.

You may have heard of a secret Wattpad Stars group on Discord, and if you haven't, the cat is now out of the bag and clawing your sofa. This over 150 strong eclectic group of Wattpad stars are the driving force behind an innovative new convention, but more on that in a moment.

In this small but passionate community, writers have formed a valuable support network and forged lasting friendships. The insight, experience and knowledge that they bring is beyond measure.

And now they want to bring that same insight to the wider writing community.

Although the group remains a small, private space, we can share the things we've learned, and we're eager to do so at the exciting WritersConnX event this year.

Like many events, WattCon has suffered cancellations due to the pandemic. Thankfully, virtual event platforms have stepped up to satisfy our desperate need for human interaction and discussion because, apparently, painting a face onto a volleyball is not a healthy coping mechanism and we need to stop.

The original idea was to do a little networking event for us to meet each other and talk about our favourite genre topics, and we told Wattpad what we were up to.

It seemed only polite.

During our planning, we discovered HOPIN, which is the same platform used by the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) and offers a great experience. With the panels we had set up, and the panelists willing to talk on camera about their experiences and give advice once lured out of their hermitty blanket forts with promises of coffee, we were pretty excited about how it was all shaping up. We could even organize one-on-one sessions to meet readers!

Fast forward a couple of weeks and Wattpad offered to support the convention so we could open it up to the rest of the writers and to some readers. So guess what? We're officially sponsored by Wattpad!
