Marshall Lee x Reader: True Love

2.) A Ruined Picnic.

The weather outside dictated that today was the perfect day for a picnic. Fionna and Cake were just as excited about the picnic as you where thought Marshall acted like he'd rather be anywhere else than here, you knew that he didn't mind that much.

He laid calmly in the shade with his eyes closed and his arms folded behind his head. Sometimes he would open his eyes just to watch as you, Fionna and Cake played in the sun or with BMO. He had a small smile on his face as he relaxed in the shade.

"You're it!" You yelled as you tapped Fionna in the shoulder and ran away from her.

"What?! I thought Cake was 'it'!" Fionna said as she ran after you.

Cake laughed loudly as she spun around in a circle and stretched right out of Fionna's reach.

"You're gonna have to try harder than that, baby!" Cake said as she ran away from her sister.

They ran around chasing each other while you managed to stay out of their sight. You sneaked over to where Marshall was and you laid down beside him, hiding your face in his chest.

"Hide me."

"I don't know how I'm going to do that, sweet cheeks. They're coming right for you." He said without even opening his eyes.

You jumped up and got away right before Fionna could tag you.

"Fionna, get away!" You yelled as you ran in a circle with the blue loving, bunny eared hat girl chased you.

"No way, you get back here!"

"Cake ball!" Cake said as she rolled over to you and Fionna and knocked you both to the ground.

The girls laughed and laid down in the grass, staring up to the beautiful blue sky filled with clouds. The game of tag was completely forgotten as the three of you began to point and clouds and telling each other what they looked like.

"That one looks like a Lord Monochromicorn." Fionna joked and laughed, seeing that Cake jumped up quickly at the mention of her boyfriend's name.

"Girl, that cloud looks like a rectangle."

"That one looks like a banana guard!"

"It does!"

The girls laughed again until a shadow covered them.

"That one appears to be in the shape of a dodecahedron. Oh, how splendid this activity is." Prince Gumball's voice said which caused Fionna to sit up quickly and try to hide her blush.

"Hey, PG. What brings you here?" Fionna asked.

You continue to lay down but once you here Prince Gumball, you look up to see the pink prince grinning down at the three of you. You also notice how Marshall Lee didn't look relaxed at all and was actually glaring at the candy prince.

You knew well that the two of them had a bad history together. You also knew that Marshall started to like the guy less after he tried to flirt with you in his lab. You see, you were a very intelligent girl but you loved to do other things than just expirements and spend the entire day in the lab. Once Gumball found out about this, he wanted to spend everyday with you and Marshall did not like that. At all.

Plus, he seemed to pay more attention to you than to Fionna and you didn't like that. During a girl's night sleep over party you had a few weeks ago, Fionna confessed that she had feelings for the pink prince of the Candy Kingdom. You told her that you were going to try to get her and him together but you couldn't do that when the prince was infatuated with you.

"I wanted to invite (Your Name) to the Candy Kingdom. I have a rare specimine that I am sure will interest you." He said as he looked down at you with a grin and a slight blush on his cheeks.
