The Ace of Hearts

Chapter one

Luz walked in the woods 'There is nothing magic about trash. I shouldn't have come, I should just go home. I mean mom is probably worried sick right now' Luz was so lost in thoughts she failed to realize that the wrong path was taken. After wondering a bit she could hear two voices, so she hid in a bush.

"Shouldn't you get to class early to prep your-" she was cut off by something falling, a purple goo spilling out. "You don't have anything do you," the green-haired girl asked but this time a hint of worry was in her voice. "Let me show you mine, abomination rises!" she said and the goo thing raised "hi-"

"Amity, you know I'm only on this track because of my parents. I want to be on the plant track. Oh, look!" The shorter girl knelt and touched the ground with a beautiful flower rising. "I just don't know what to do," she says with a look of sorrow.

"You need to do what's best for you but if you don't pass this assignment you run the risk of being kicked out of school."

"I know can you just-"

"No, I can't just give you my abomination"

"But-"

"But Nothing willow! I shouldn't even be talking to you. Do you know the risk I run every day talking to you! Do you know what my mother- never mind just figure something out before class. Fake it if you have to abomination cower!" The green-haired girl Luz now knows as Amity yells.

"Witch drama" Luz whispers as Amity walks away. The shorter girl who Luz learned is named Willow watched as Amity walked away. "'But nothing I shouldn't even be talking to you' I hate when she does that I hate failing my classes I hate this track" Willow's eyes started to glow green as the flower from earlier gets lost among giant thorny roots that burst out around it. They surround Willow, glowing and writhing angrily. One snakes out and grabs Luz by the ankle... Willow turned just as Luz got to her. Once she saw the scared girl she regained control and the plants went away.

"OMG OMG OMG I am so sorry." she panics but stops when she sees the human girl's ears. "So circly"

"AHhh" Luz yells and covers her ears. Willow gasped " You're human! This is astounding!" She gasps again and grabs Luz's face, then helps her stand up and walks around her. "A human on the Boiling Isles! How'd you get here? What are you doing here?" as Willow was looking at Luz they heard the bell ring " Uh, I'm sorry. I can't stay. I have to disappoint my teacher. It was nice to meet you, human.'' Willow waved back and walked off.

"Wait! I'm Luz. And you're Willow, right? What you did with that flower and those plants, it was... wow."

"Thanks, but... I'm not even supposed to be doing plant magic. My parents put me on the abomination track at school."

"School? As in magic school? That is so cool! I have a teacher but her lessons are untraditional. I bet she wouldn't even let me enroll. But I wish I could spend one day there."

"And I wish I could get a passing grade for once, then maybe people would stop making fun of me"

"I have an idea I could be your abomination. I'll get you a good grade, and you can get me into magic school. It's a great idea!" she says and rubs the goo on her hoodie.

"What?"

"I saw that girl's thing. It's just chunks of stuff that talk weird. I'm chunks of stuff, and I talk weirdly!"

"Well that's true." she thought for a second "alright let's do it!" they shook on it getting stuck together by the goo luz uses her foot to separate them, falling back into the goo

"This is a great plan!"
