"I'm exhausted." The male groaned, before knocking on the door so that someone can open. After leaning on his left leg and waiting for a while, someone opened the door.
That someone just happens to be his cousin with his annoying smile. Mentally rolling his eyes, he made his way inside the house. His cousin locked the door behind and went into another direction, leaving him alone.
He lazily climbed up the stairs, wanting to just go and collapse on his bed. He had no energy left after a tiring day at school. Soon enough, he was standing in front of his room's door.
He twisted the knob open and pushed the door slightly. He walked in and threw his bag on the floor somewhere and landed on the king-sized bed with his back facing the ceiling.
His eyes were slowly becoming heavy and just when he was about to doze off to sleep, some footsteps were heard. He didn't care who was it since for now, all he needed was sleep.
"Sicheng, are you home?" It was his mom. He scoffed, still not facing her.
"No, I'm at school." He spat sarcastically, not wanting to deal with the upcoming nagging from his mom.
"That's not how you talk with your mom!" The lady said, clenching her jaw and fists. He wanted to scoff at the woman who just mentioned herself as his mom, when he never remembered her treating him as his own son.
But he knew better than to talk back with her. Arguing with her will only make things worse because at the end, she's always going to pull 'I'll tell your dad' card.
His dad is one scary businessman. He never raised his hand against Sicheng, but he did raise his voice and even threatened him a couple of times.
And that was enough for the helpless boy to shut his mouth in fear and not do anything which can possibly trigger his parents. He could now hear some footsteps, slowly fainting away.
Sighing, he pushed himself up from the bed and walked towards the closet. He picked some clothes, and shutting the closet close, he went to take a peaceful shower in his bathroom.
—
He jumped on his bed and laid flat on it, facing the ceiling. His arms and legs spread. The atmosphere having a comfortable silence, just like what he wants for sleeping.
He was about to change his position into a comfortable one, until his phone rang, which was kept on the bedside table. He closed his eyes, trying to compose himself.
The Chinese forcefully sat up and grabbed his phone to see whose number it was. But it was from an unknown number. And most importantly, the number wasn't even from China.
It was from Korea. He doesn't remember having any Korean friend yet. Shrugging, he picked up the call.
"Hello?" He greeted in Korean, smirking that he won't have trouble having a conversation because he mastered Korean a long ago for reasons he doesn't know himself.
"Wow, you know Korean?" Was the first thing the person on the other side said.
"Yes. Now may I know who are you?" He tried asking politely, holding back the urge of yelling at this human being who just disturbed his sleep.
"Johnny." The person on the other line said, making the Chinese even more confused. He never had a friend named Johnny.
"Sorry, mister, but I don't know who you are." He said nicely, still holding back the urge to throw his phone out in frustration.
"How will you, when we are talking for the first time."
"Excuse me, what do you mean?"
"I mean, i just randomly dialled your number and now since you've talked so far with me, you've to become my friend."
It took him a minute to understand what this person named Johnny said, and his eyes widen.
"Wait, so you're telling me that you just dial random people's number, even if it's not from your country, and make them your friend?" He asked, wanting to be confirmed.
"You got it right, my friend!"
The Chinese sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He then thought, hey, this person looks cool, why not be friends?
"We're friends now, I guess." He said confidently, smirking, although the person on the other line can't see him.
"Yes! Oh wait, you didn't tell me your name!"
"It's Sicheng."
"Pretty name, huh?"
He laughed lightly on Johnny's response. He was about to say something more when he heard footsteps coming towards his room. Panicking, he hanged on the call and threw his phone away on the bed.
He grabbed a book from the bedside table and pretended to read it. The footsteps stopped at the door, and he looked up slowly from his book to find out that it's his another annoying cousin, eyeing him suspiciously.
He mentally prayed that his cousin didn't catch him talking on the call, or he'll be sued not knowing the answers to the questions which will be asked.
'Who was on the call?'
'Why did you stop talking all of a sudden?'
'Why were you talking in another language'
And many more such questions. He had no freedom. He can't go outside alone. Likewise, he can't have his own privacy. It was tiring for him, but he can't do anything about that.
He watched his cousin walk away, and he sighed in relief. He now threw the book away, who knows where, and picked his phone up. The Chinese was about to call back to his newly made friend, but the other did it first.
With a long, deep breath, he picked up the call.
"Hello, sorry for hanging up like this. My cousin came, and I didn't want her to see me talking with someone on call." He said, still looking out of the door to see if someone is there or not.
"It's ok." Johnny said with a laugh, making the Chinese laugh along with him.
