Just got back from school. It was pretty exhausting. It is not easy as you think for an unfit guy like me to climb up and down these stairs every day. "Man, I wished they'd build an elevator for this building", I said under my breath. As I was taking off my shoes and about to open the door to my house, the cat was peeking from the stairs. Curious. "Hm, probably because we're new here and it has never seen us before", I thought to myself. I was about to close the door behind me, the cat started to talk. Well not in human words. It was meowing. Non-stop. I have never seen a cat talk this much before. I replied back by saying, "Oh hi there". "Who are you talking to?". "It was the cat we saw earlier this morning", I shouted back to mum who was in the kitchen cooking lunch. The cat is still talking and I don't know why. As I observe closer the cat is actually quite big. In fact, it is one of the biggest cats I have ever seen with my own two eyes. Well, I'm sure there is bigger but this is one large cat. It was about 40 cm in length.
I never had a cat before or a pet but I used to have a pet rabbit when I was 4 years old. There's this old game on my mum's Sony phone where you have to become a rabbit and steal carrots, touch screen phones didn't exist back then. I was so addicted to the game that mum bought a rabbit for my birthday. It died a horrible death, so I didn't have a lot a memories with it. Since then, never thought of having a new pet, the idea never crossed my mind. Until that day very day.
It was night. The full moon, a pale yellow, inched its way up the night sky, past a few flats that surrounds ours and finally nestled comfortably among the stars. Dad was watching television. Mum was scrolling through Facebook and I was doing homework while my brothers were doing their very own Olympics. Yes, it was indeed chaos and that is when I heard it again. The meowing, outside our doorstep. I got up and opened the door and it was there. The cat. Staring right back at me. Is this what cats do? Stares at you? I sat down on the floor, mesmerize by the cat's beauty. "Hm, this cat is actually adorable". I gave it a head pat. The cat's fur was fluffy. Imagine yourself touching the clouds. Yea, it felt like that. The cat started to purr and rub itself on my ankles. "Is it the cat again?" mum asked as she approaches us. "Yea. I think she doesn't have an owner". "She? I think it's a he," mum replied back with a smug face. I look closely at the cat, it appears to be that the cat is barren. "Perhaps his owner brought him to the vets," mum gave her thoughts. "That's our neighbor's cat that lives a floor below us," dad said as he turns off the television. "I see..." I nod acknowledging dad. The cat has big green eyes, white and grey fur with a few black stripes on its thighs and he's huge. From now on I'm referring it as he because he's already feels like family.
