Chapter 5
I didn't know what was to be said upon the rooftop when he crawled up here with me. His warmth held me. Wrapping around acting as a blanket, or a shield, to protect me. The universe only looked down on us. Seeing how easy it is to break someone's heart. I had never asked for my life to be like this. Usually I walked with a crowd. Except a stranger had grabbed me, and pulled me into an alley. Telling me to find another way. To walk another direction. You see, I grew up without many friends. If I had one they didn't pay much attention to this wondering soul. Many other people would bump me, or push me down so I couldn't climb the stairs to my goal. I ended up back in another crowd. Which was walking straight, and not turning. Once in a while someone would be pushed out. Being replaced by another.
Those who got pushed away faded into a darkness. Those who got in stayed for an eternity. Then there's the people who could see over the crowd, and could take a step to the right, and see another group beyond their reach. Yet they kept walking. The people I admired were the ones who could run, and be the leader. That person was Jerome. He wanted to be a guide, someone who could help others. He needed to let people free. One by one he picked out people, sending them to a better home. Then he got to me. Before he could say anything, I was gone.
Deep holes, dark hallways, empty life. My group was no longer there. I was basically alone. Outcasts ran away as I approached. Was I just a bad dream that everyone ignored and fled? No. That's not right. I was almost there, it was right there in front of me. My goal.
That goal
to reach..Jerome.I wanted to grab him, and hold him.
Though I was too late, and he was too fast. I tripped and fell as he stepped over me. I should have called his name.
Told him those three words anyone would ever want to hear...
I love you.
"Mitch?" Lachlan asks, tapping my shoulder. I sit up in my bed, wondering how I got here.
"What?" My voice manages to croak.
"Come on." He tosses my clothes onto my bed. I get dressed fast, not knowing what awaited. I grab my shoes and run downstairs. Lachlan walks out the door, and I follow. He gets in his car, and I in the passenger seat.
"Where are we going?" I question, pulling the seat belt across my chest.
"You'll see. The rest of the pack is there." He smiles. His eyes are glossy, as if he was about to cry. "
"Ok." I mumble I sit back in the seat to enjoy the ride. My eyes fall shut, and I'm awoken in a room. Lachlan and Vikk sit in front of me.
"What the?-" They turn their attention towards me.
"You fell asleep in the car and I carried you in." Lachlan smiles. "Come on." Vikk's eyes smile and he grabs my wrist. He pulls me into a room.
"Mitch." He mumbles. Eyes barely able to stay open. I'm at his side in a matter of seconds.
"I love you! I love you so much, and I just want you to know that." I grab his hand while I push out my sentence. He needs to know. I'm not letting him go again.
"I love you too, Mitch." He whispers.
"No, you don't get it. I love you! Jerome Aceti, you're my one out of seven billion. You're my everything that I've wished for in my life." He smiles at me. His eyes show weakness, but he's staying strong.
"I know, Mitch, I love you too." He whispers, closing his eyes. I knew he was tired. The boys all left me in the room with him. I held onto his hand. If I let go I'd lose him again. I'm not taking any chances.
"Mitch?" I hear a faint voice whispers. I pick my head up to see Jerome smiling. "It's four in the morning, why are you still here?" His smile fades, and worry floods his face.
"I didn't want to leave you." His hand lays on my cheek. I stand up to where I'm leaning over him. Our lips touch ever so gently. The kiss only lasted a few seconds, but it felt more than that.
"I love you." Jerome mumbles.
"I love you more." I smile, kissing the top of his hand.
Sorry it's so short! Next one I'll try to make it more happy.
