I walk down the road to Rain's house. I don't think she knows that I'm coming, but oh well. I turn the corner, and walk up onto her porch. I consider knocking, but decide against it.
"IM HOME!" I yell, and walk towards the fridge.
"Hey Charlie." Ms. Miller says. I open the refrigerator and grab the container of cream cheese.
"I'm taking this." I say, and walk upstairs to Rain's room. Rain and I go wayyy back. We met in sixth grade, and I hated her because I thought she smelled like cheese. Eventually we became friends, then best friends. Now I just walk into her house and take her food or eat dinner with her parents.
I walk into her room, and Rain is in the corner. She has something in her hand, but I don't take notice of what it is.
"Oh. Hey Charlie." She says, and fixes her shirt. I sit on her bed, and start eating the cream cheese with my finger. Rain just looks at me.
"You know that your repulsing, right?" She asks me, then turns away with a look of disgust. I look around her room. There are some old posters of movies, and some pictures of us together. She has one tiny TV in the corner that only gets channel 6 sometimes. Her twin bead is extremely soft, and the bed set is earthy green and brown.
"We should do something." I say with an annoying shrill tone. Rain just looks at me. She doesn't like to do things besides lay in bed and draw. She is an amazing talented artist.
"What do you wanna do?" She questions me. I think for a moment. I have to go somewhere that Will hold my attention.
"Movies?" I ask.
Rain just looks at me. "There's nothing good out. Everything is rated R and is just stupid or is rated G and is just stupid. Not the movies."
"Well, what about ice skating?" I suggest.
"Too cold, plus my leg hurts." She replies.
I try to thing of something else. There aren't very many activities in a stupid Ohio suburb. "What about the mall? We can get some ice cream. Ice cream is good." She looks intrigued at the mention of ice cream.
"If you really want, we can go to the mall." Rain groans. She gets off the bed, sets down her sketch book, and gets ready. She picks a blue tee, and some ripped dark jeans. She changes while I finish my cream cheese. She pulls her chestnut hair up into a messy bun and pulls on her keds. We go downstairs, and she grabs some blueberries.
"Mom, we are going to the mall. Be back in a couple hours." Rain says, and we go outside. There is a warm breeze blowing through the summer air. I go to my old rust red pickup, and unlock the doors. We hop in the car, and head off.
