As we drive into the parking lot, I couldn't help but hope we didn't run I to anyone from school. Rain was the nicest, most beautiful, kindest, smartest, most loving person on the earth, yet that's not what our peers thought. They thought she was a freak who didn't belong with us, and she should go back to Mississippi where she came from(she moved here from Mississippi half way through sixth grade).
I find a nice parking spot next to Macy's, and turn off the ignition. Rain gets out, and I lock the doors. We start walking towards the door and I pocket my keys. We walk across the road, and hear a loud HONK! Some asshole was driving over the speed limit and almost hit us.
"SCREW YOU!" I scream at the SUV, and raise my middle finger. Rain walked up to the door, and I grab the cold metal and pull. I am immediately greeted with the scent of sweet perfumes.
"Where to first?" I inquire, and Rain thinks. Some bratty kid throws a shirt on the floor then runs into my leg. The stupid mother runs after the kid, not bothering to apologize.
"Wanna head to Spencer's?" Rain says, and we are on our way.
************************************************************************************************On the way, we stopped and got smoothies and a pretzel. When we walk into Spencer's, there is blasting music that I recognize as The Offspring. Rain walks to the back, and looks at some shirts. I go over to the belts, and see an amazing Blink 182 belt. I check the price. $19.99. No way in hell.
Rain comes over to me, and she has an amazing Smash Mouth tee. She pays, we thank the cashier, and we leave the store.
As we wonder around the mall, occasionally stopping and looking around stores, Rain tells me about how she found a fifty dollar bill at the beach last week. We exchange stories, and everything is good. Then I spot them.
"Hey! Look! It's the freaks! Rain and Charlie!" A girl name Stephanie sneers. Stephanie is a total bitch. She makes jokes about suicide, thinks that being gay is a choice, is extremly racist, and is completely spoiled by her rich first class parents. A few of her friends, named Claire and Tiffany, laugh at her jokes.
"Wow! I don't think I've ever seen such fatties before!" Claire adds. I start to approach them.
Stephanie steps towards me with a fake grin. "Oh look. This little whore thinks that she's strong. Well, skank, I'm sorry that your shitty parents are too retarded to feed you and provide a nice shelter for you, but that's not my problem, now is it? Now go back to your ugly ass aunts house and let your bitchy friend here die. We all know she deserves to."
That's it. I leap on her, and she starts screaming. I punch her, and scratch her, and rip out pieces of her hair. After a minute of me beating the shit out of her, I get dragged off of her by security. I look, and her face is covered in blood. She has scratch marks and cuts as well as several bruises starting to form.
I toss Rain my keys, and she leaves. This happened a lot. I am dragged out of the building by the cops, and they ask me for my address. I tell them, and we start driving.
After what seemed like the longest eight minutes of my life, we finally arrive back at Rains house. I am pulled out of the car and shoved up the porch steps. The officer pounds on the door.
Ms. Miller opens the door, and sees me all bruised and a little bloody from the amount of resistance Stephanie put up.
"Is this young lady your daughter?" The officer asked.
"Oh my lord. My baby girl. I'm so so sorry." Ms. Miller says, lying "My little Charlie here has just been having a little trouble ever since her father and grandma passed away in a tragic accident. I'll keep her on a shorter leash. Please let her go just this once. I promise it won't happen again!" She begs.
"You watch that girl." The officer says, them leaves. Ms. Miller smiles, then pulls me in and closes the door. She drops her fake smile.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? YOU ALMOST GOT ARRESTED. I CANT KEEP LYING TO COVER YOUR ASS EVERYTIME YOU GET IN A FIGHT." She bellows, obviously upset.
"I'm sorry. She said some things about my parents and I couldn't control myself." I say.
"Oh c'mere." Ms. Miller says, and pulls me into a hug. "I know it's hard. But you have to control yourself. Your like my own kid, so I gotta be tough with you. Just stay safe, okay?" She says, and let's go of me.
"I'm sorry. It won't happen again." I mumble.
"Now, go get that blood off your face. And tell Rain that dinner is in 20 minutes." Ms. Miller says, slowly walking towards the kitchen. I walk upstairs, and get ready for our meal.
