The Clerk.

Chapter 1

My legs can not carry me fast enough as I run to catch the next bus heading to downtown. "Hey! Wait a moment!" I scream as I hit the side of the slow moving bus. It stops and the doors fling open, " Almost missed ya Cassie!" The bus driver named, George said as I climbed aboard the bus. " Thanks for stopping George, I cant be late" I said with a smile as I placed my money into the feeder to pay for my ride.

I walked to the back and took a seat, this is the time I am able to catch my breath and listen to music to calm my nerves before getting into work. Lindsey Stirling plays through my head phones as I prepear myself for work. I take the compact out of my purse and fix my make up a bit, fix my bangs, and make sure nothing is in my teeth from lunch earlier. Once that's done I pull out my book for my next class Marine Biology 110. I'm in the work of becoming a Shark and Dolphine expert! I graduated a head in my class, I started college when I ws 17 and I have one more year until I graduate!

I have worked so hard to make everything I want in life a reality! My mother passed away from limpomic cancer a couple of years ago, leaving me with my father, Roy and my little brother who is 14 Joss and little sister Thelma 13 behind. I do my best to help my father out with my younger siblings when he gose to work. He works as a local firefighter, I am so proud of my father for all that he has done to keep our family a float after my mother passed. She was a wonderful woman that I could tell anything too, I miss her so much and I swear in the middle of the night I still smell her lavender soap she always used.

My sister Thelma has grown quite attached to me since our mother's death and my brother...well, he likes being alone, he dosent like talking about it and neither do any of us, right now its a painful subject.

My bus came to a hault outside The Last Go store. I shouted out my thanks to George and jumped off the steps to get inside as I was walking into the store I ran into a very strong back that made me fall on my butt.

" Oh Dear!, Sorry love" came a thick British acsent that I knew all to well, " Its not a big deal Tom" I said with a smile as we both walked into the store. He chuckled at me and I had to smile, He is such a wonderful guy. Kind and caring of others and he is the only one that I know who can quote R&B songs word for word. He is always friendly to the other clerks but the rumor around work here is that he is extra sweet to me. I have yet to notice it though but I am a bit thick when it comes to knowing mens signals that they like you.

I dated a couple of times in the past but there was no spark between us, so we would go our seprate ways and that would be that. " I swear you must live here Cassie" Tom said with a smile. I smiled back and walked behind the counter to clock in. " I might as well" I said with a chuckle. Jessica, another clerk here, came up behind the counter and smirked at me.

" Guess who decided it would be a great day to up and quit?" she asked as I gave her a look, "Who?" I asked as she sighed, "Lance"

I was dumbfounded, " Lance really?! The baby is so close though! Dont they need the extra money since her family wont help?" I asked as Jessica shrugged, "Bob is going to ask if you can pick an extra shift or two this weekend if your not busy" she said and I rubbed my temples. " I'll have to check my schedule, I have to sleep sometime" I said as I turned to my register to sign in.

Cassie seems to be so tired and all I can do is feel for her. School, two jobs and taking care of family; good Lord that can be very stressful on a young woman. I have had chats with her, some long some short but I can feel myself liking every converation I have with her, her sweet smile, the way other customers come in and all love and greet her by name.

I am not ashamed to admit I really do like her, I just become sort of a coward when it comes to asking her out though. I have tried countless times but my tongue becomes thick and I trip over my own words. I basically have made a fool of my self more than once trying to ask her out. Sad as it sounds I practice on my mirror at home like a 16 year old boy asking out his crush.

She smiled at me and my heart swooned, what I wouldnt give to see her smile like that with love towards me, or even a lustful smile in my bedroom. I shivered in pleasure at the thought and a dirty smirk came to play on my face. "Tom?...TOM?" I shook my head and turned to see Cassie staring at me inquisitively. "Yes Darling" I answered as she smiled at me, " Do you want your regular?" she asked as she made her way to the tea that she kept in the back just for me. I smile secretly about that, when i first started coming here, they were always sold out of the tea that I like until Cassie started saving a couple of boxes for me in the back. I couldnt find it anywhere else and when she started do that for me, I knew something with her and I would click.

"Yes love, can you add an order of fish and chips with that, I am on my way out the the set and havent ate yet" I said as he face fell, " Tom you need to keep up your streagnth, you need to eat more that chip and fish" she said to me in a kind voice that I love so much. " Well my love, if I promise to eat better will you consider a date?" I said quickly and she looked at me funny.

" You dont have to if you dont want to Cassie I..." I started as she giggled at me with a sweet smile on her plump lips.

" I'd love to Tom. Let me give you my number and we can set up a date" she said as she jotted down her digits on a piece of recipt tape and handed it to me. "Ohhhhhh, sexy girl gotta date!" Jessica's voice floated over to where we were and we both blushed deep red. " Ill text you tonight love,see you later" I said as I paid for my tea and late dinner. I walked out the door and made sure I was far enough away before I jumped excitedly in the air!

Some people passed by looking at me like I was nuts but I couldnt bring myself to care! I just got a date with Cassie and I didnt mess it up, albet it was a bit cheesy the way I did it but damn I am going on a date with Cassie!!

I made my way to my Jag and rushed to the set for the few shots I needed to do for today. I had a smile on my face all day and it got bigger when I sent her the text that I was free for the next two weeks. She quickly responded that she was acutally free this weekend since she had to have it off for studying. I offered to help her to study adding that we could make it a date/ study and she sent me a smiley face.

So this Saturday, take out, Biology books and possibly a movie...who knows what else but all that mattered was that I was going to have alone time with the girl I knew I wanted in my life....
