CHAPTER 2
Maria ran up looking extremely happy and bubbly. She looked over at Mark as if to say ,"Go away."
After a few seconds of that look Mark jokingly held up his hands. "Ok I can take a hint, I'll leave." He stated and walked away toward some different people. There was still a slight blush remaining on my cheeks. "Why are you blushing?" Maria asked me smiling stupidly. "Ummmmm no reason, I was just......" I lost my train of thought. "Well, I have a date to the party with Max!" she practically sung. "That is so awesome!" I stated with exaggerated enthusiasm."Ugh, you could at least try to act excited." she said sighing. "Well at least I have a date." she said meanly and sneered at me. "For your information." I said with a mean smile on my face. "I'm going to the party with Mark." I said like a total smartass. A shrill squeal peirced my ear drums like a nail being hammered into a peice of wood. Then out of nowhere she hugged me I just stood there like a rag doll, in other word I was helpless. "I knew you would eventually say yes. I mean look at that." she said and looked over at Mark who was talking to some guy in the middle of the room. "He is ffffiiinnnneeee!" she said making sure to emphasize the word fine. "Ummmm ok h..." I started to say but was cut off again by the bell's shrill cry telling us that we were free till Monday. "Well I have to go." Maria said exceedingly happy. "Max said he would drive me home today!" She said and practically skipped over to Max. "I can't believe our last class is already over." I whispered to myself and shrugged and walked of the classroom. I wonder what happened to our teacher, or what in the hell was going through their head when they decided to leave a bunch of tenth graders alone in a classroom. It was a light grey outside the sun was barely peeking out around the dark clouds. It wasn't a very long trek to the big yellow buses outside it started to slowly and lightly drizzle when I was about halfway there. I pulled out my Ipod touch from the side pocket on my backpack. I walked onto the noisy and crowded bus. I slowly but surely made my way to the back seat of the bus. I automatically cranked up the sound of my Ipod to drown out the country music playing on the bus's radio. I leaned back and tried to get comfortable on the lumpy bus seat. After a moment of complete boredom I hesitantly reached into my backpack and pulled out the party invitation. I opened it to see the more specific details of the party. "Ok,"I mumbled to myself under my breath. " So October 31st, @ 6:00 p.m. Saturday night. Doesn't give very much time to dicide whether you want to go or not. I read further and then stopped as I reached the name Kathy O'Harris. Isn't that weird satanist chick that always hangs out in the back of the classroom, I thought quietly to myself. Wait didn't she get expelled last year for trying to murder the principle and sacrifice him in some kind of incantation thingy? I looked around and saw one of the other tenth grade girls pointing at the invitation and exclaiming about something. I walked over to Delilah, who was being as loud as ever. God she needs to learn to quiet down or keep it to herself. She was pretty nice though she was ok even though she was kinda loud. "Hey Delilah." I said unenthusiastically. "Hi!" she merrily said to me. "Hey, wat do you know about that Kathy O'Harris chick who is throwing that party on Saturday?" I asked hoping for a good answer. "Well...hmmmm." she apparently had to think on it for a bit. "Hey Delilah, what do you know about this Kathy chick other then the thing with the principal?" I asked motioning to Kathy's name on the invitation. Suddenly Delilah's expression turned solem.Which was strange for Delilah. Her expression actually made my skin crawl. "Well heard from Ariel that her brother died last year in a terrible car crash." She said sympathetically. "Some even say that is why she got into all of that satanist stuff in the first place. In fact I heard Cara who heard from Jimmy, who heard from Julian, that she actually tried to bring him bacK around the same time she tried to get the principal." she squeaked. "I'm only going to that party she is throwing because I feel sorry for her." She added still sounding sympathetic. "Oh, ok." I rasped. My chest felt tight now and my throat felt as dry as sandpaper. I slowly wandered back to my seat and sat down on the hard uncomfortable bus seat. All the way home I debated with myself about whether to break off my date with Mark and stay home or to go to a satanist's Halloween party. I let out an exasperated sigh. Mark is so sweet though I don't want to hurt his feelings. I wished the thought of going to a crazy satanist's house didn't sound so insane. "Hey Delilah." I yelled as our very own red headed loud mouth turned around to respond. "What?" she instantly called back. "Does she have any other siblings?" I quickly replied. Again she paused a minute before replying. "Hmmmmmm, well I think she has one other brother in ninth grade." she stated seemingly satisfied with herself for remembering. "Why?" she asked as we approached my house. "No reason." I called out to her as I stepped off of the bus. Thoughts were encircling my mind. "Maybe her brother will keep her from acting weird." I muttered to myself as I walked down my rough gravel driveway. "I guess I don't have to cancel my date with Mark." I whispered talking to myself now happy. My mind was still pumping out thoughts full speed like. I hope nothing bad happens was the main one. I had no idea what was going to happen at the party, no one did.........lucky us.
