They say people find peace and relaxation within their own home. Well, Tessa was surely feeling it now. Sitting on the couch with her feet propped up on the table listening to the murmured voices on her television screen. This was the part of her day that she enjoyed the most. After coming home from school, her younger sister goes straight to her room which leaves Tessa all by herself. This would be her time to relax before the chaos that would ensue later in the evening.
Unfortunately, her relaxation would be interrupted by the sound of her front door swinging open. Immediately, she sighed and leaned her head against the back of the couch. Her head turned to the end of the hallway where she saw two of her best friends that decided to break into her house.
"What's up Tezz?" Mikey greeted.
She mentally rolled her eyes at that nickname. Tezz. That was the nickname Mikey had given her. He claimed it was the shorter version of her name which never made any sense to her considering her name is pretty short. However, she made no remarks against the new name, so it kind of just stuck.
"You guys are kind of early." she remarked as she turned to look up at the other boy that was standing in her living room.
"Mikey insisted on coming early, so I couldn't stop him." Draken replied.
She nodded which told him that it was okay. She walked past Mikey patted his head which messed up his hair. She snickered as she heard him groan and try to fix his blonde locks. She headed over to the coat rack and grabbed her grey jacket, shoes and her motorcycle keys.
"Well, let's go." she said as she tossed her keys up in the air and caught them easily.
The two boys nodded and followed behind her. Tessa walked over to her motorcycle that was parked on the side of the road. She lived in a pretty safe neighborhood so she didn't have to worry about anyone stealing her ride. She put the keys in the ignition and started the engine. She let a smile creep on her face as she revved the engine. If she had to choose a sound that soothed her soul, it would have to be the sound of her bike. She heard the boys' engines start up too which was music to her ears.
She let the boys pull out first with her tailing behind. She gained speed so she was right beside Draken. The chilled wind blowing in her face gave her a burst of energy; made her feel alive.
After a few more minutes on the road, they pulled over to the side to view the lit up city of Shibuya. Cars were all over the streets as people were getting off work and heading home to their families. The sun had just set allowing the moon to start taking over the sky. A content smile showed on her face as she turned her attention to the boys who were also looking at the sky.
If she was being honest, sitting in the living room by herself was not where she found true peace. It was moments like this where she found her true peace. And she wouldn't have it any other way.
