Lilly

"Lilly! Lilly! wake up! Its 3 in the afternoon! I'm over this!" a voice yells. I cover my face with my pillow and is attacked by a killer headache. That party last night really fucked me up. I don't even know half the shit I did. I groaned in return. I heard a sigh and felt the bed move from under me.

"Lilly...I lost my job last night. I don't have the money to pay rent, bills, and food for us..." My best friend Cole says quietly. My eyes are immediately open and force myself off of the bed, looking at Cole with his face in his hands.

"What are we going to do then?" I whispered reaching for the cup of water and Advil set out on my bed stand by Cole. I took a sip, just enough for the capsules to flow all the way down.

"I'm looking online for a job, but it wont pay as much as my last one so I need you to please find a job also. You are so talented and great at so many things. You have so many options Lils." Cole said looking up at me from his hands desperately. I frowned in disagreement but nodded agreeing to find a job.

"Okay. Go and get ready. There is 40 dollars to make at least 30 trips wherever you want to go in LA. I expect you to come back with applications. And please be on your best behavior Lils. For me." Cole begs walking out of my room. I scoff and sigh running my hands down my face trying to clear the smeared make up. I got up carefully and started to do my morning routine.

An hour later

I get on the bus and sit in the back leaning my head on the window. After a lot of thought, I end up wearing this. Picture on the side. As i watch the cars pass by and the buildings get taller, i start to feel a little nervous. Cole shouldn't have trusted me with this task. I am nothing but a fuck up who isn't good at anything but getting shitfaced drunk and hooking up with strangers.

Once I arrive, I walk off of the bus looking around. I wasn't really that familiar with this part of California so I started walking around looking for anywhere I thought would be a good enough job, pay wise. There were so many clothes stores and fancy restaurants. But I walked past them not thinking that it would be enough satisfy me. But then they perfect store came in view. Rock House. The well known music store that sells very expensive instruments and promotes teens that are good enough to be the Next Big Thing. I smiled walking into the store.

Right when I walked in the store I was greeted by this blonde lady with the fattest lips ever. I laughed right then and there not even feeling any pity for the woman. Once my laughs died down and I wiped the tears away, I regained my composure. I looked back up at her and saw a confused frown on her face. I couldn't hold it in any longer! I started dying again right in front of her! At this point it would by best if she just walked away.

Calming down once more, I heard the sound of heels clicking and growing fainter and fainter. I took a minute to think about what just happened and couldn't wait to tell Cole once she got home. Remembering why I came, I walked up to the front desk seeing an older and more professional man with circular shades looking right at me asking if i needed any help.

"I want to be promoted as the Next Big Thing. I know i am way better than the broads yo-" I was interrupted by a hand in front of my face signaling for me to stop talking. I frowned and stepped back, putting distance between his hand and my face. I watched as he took his sunglasses off and set it down on the desk.

"How old are you and what genre of music do you sing?" The man says in a rather arrogant tone. I frowned not liking his deep raspy voice.

"20 and Pop, Hip Hop, and I rap a little." I say making the guy smirk the littlest bit trying to give it off as unnoticeable. He silently stares off into space like he is thinking about something.

"What music have you written so far?" The guy says out of nowhere. Now I'm the one that is left silent. I frowned realizing that I don't have any written music. I don't even have enough imagination to conjure up a song in my head.

"I don't have anything or you. I don't write mu-" I stopped speaking seeing a frown grow on the man's face. I look down and chuckle ready for the beast to unleash.

"If you don't write music then you are obviously not qualified to be promoted as the Next Big Thing. Now.....almost ten minuted of my precious time was wasted because of this unneeded conversation. If you are looking to by an instrument feel free but I am going to ask you to leave my presence." The guy said harshly. I frowned and rolled my eyes walking away to the isle with the guitars. I then met my other half. The nicest looking acoustic guitar I have ever laid eyes on. I immediately took the beauty to the cashier. I watched as the decent looking lady place it in a case and hand it to me.

"That will be 189 dollars exact." I sighed and pulled out my wallet, seeing the last three hundred dollars out of my emergency wallet. I gave her two hundred and grabbed my change walking out of the store not that excited anymore.
