It's the thirty-eighth time Heejin has to let her go.

Although, they're soulmates, there's nothing to worry about.

But that doesn't mean it hurts less everytime. Because it doesn't.

Heejin holds onto Hyunjin's hands tightly, like she doesn't want to let go. It still hurts seeing the one she loves bedridden, lying there in pain as she succumbs to God's will and passes on with life. She grasped onto the weak hands falling, whispers her last words to Hyunjin as she closes her eyes, unable to bear watching her go.

"I love you so much." Heejin kisses her forehead, and stays there for a little while as the beeping of the vital sign monitor quickens before coming to a stop.

She only watches as the doctors rush in, as they try to resesitate her lifeless being, but fails and comes to the decision. "Time of death, seventeen fifty-eight."

She doesn't miss the small upwards tug of her mouth, finally at peace.

In this lifetime, Kim Hyunjin, a twenty year old cancer patient, was fortunate to have spent her last days with Heejin.

Heejin sets foot in the house. It's a jungle of drunk college students screaming and cheering as the remix of Wannabe by Spice Girls plays. A classic Heejin thinks.

She's pushed into the crowd, trying to swim her way out when her hand is grabbed from the back.

"Heejin! You finally made it! Sooyoung almost thought you'd ditch her again for homework." Jiwoo exclaimed loudly amidst the already loud crowd.

"I'm not going to miss out of her birthday, especially if I get to see drunk Sooyoung falling into the pool trying to flirt with Jinsol." An inside joke between the group of friends, Heejin remembers last year when Sooyoung, whilst flexing her incredible juggling skills to Jinsol (or at least trying to, if you skip out on the part she got hit in the face for the nth time by a falling ball), missed one ball and accidentally slipped and fell into the pool, pulling Jinsol along when she held onto her flannel.

It's safe to say Sooyoung never attempted such behaviors near the pool again.

Jiwoo laughs, before the both of them made it to the lounge area, where Chaewon was snuggling up in Yerim's neck, with Hyeju looking at them with disgust, but ultimately joining them as the three huddled together.

"Hey guys." Heejin promptly takes a spot on the bean bag beside a knocked out Jungeun.

"Look who finally showed up." Hyeju snorts at Yeojin's words.

Heejin ignores the younger one, grabs the unopened can of Mountain Dew on the coffee table and takes a sip. She scans the room in search for the birthday girl but pauses on the autumn brown hair in the distance.

There she was, in the flash, right before Heejin's eyes.

She didn't expect to find her so soon in this lifetime.

Not missing a chance, Heejin quickly gets up, drowning out the cries of the students as she makes her way through the crowd. Her feet are moving in their own accord, dragging Heejin and before she knew it, Heejin was already a feet away from Hyunjin.

"Hi." Heejin cringes internally at how much she sounded like a shy boy approaching his crush for the first time after countless staring in the background.

Hyunjin turns around to find Heejin awkwardly standing there, hands at her sides fiddling with the hems of her button up shirt.

"Hi?" Hyunjin gives her a small smile which Heejin finds incredibly cute.
